As a man my opinion is lamb is more luxurious but cow hide is way tougher just depends on what item and what the task for the item is BTW I don't know how I ended up on this video but good video

It is a good review on both Chanel bags and does help men (like me!!) in what to get for their wife ( girlfriend) as a nice gift for that occasion. It really is hard to choose when you do not know on the product and the price you pay, when it comes to choose a Caviar or Lambskin. This is very helpful in your video in showing and your view on both bags!!!

Nail scratch will easily get rid off, but it's very hard to get rid off if the scratch is made by sharp particles. Anyhow, I personally prefer the caviar as it's durable and shiniet with ageing.

Lambskin looks very luxurious up close BUT it is scary to even touch it especially with long nails. Most women have long nails and notice their leather bags and stuff filled with fingernails. And I myself hate it when my leather stuff gets tiny specks of scratches. Maybe thats just the ocd and perfectionist in me. If I had to choose Id take the caviar finish. If I had millions of dollars then id buy the lambskin, so I can buy another one if the old one has too many scratches haha

I think Chanel’s quality went significantly down over the years. I personally prefer handmade bags in small factories. These bags are unique, luxurious and durable. There is so many people out there owning a Chanel bag that it in a way is no different to owning a Penney’s bag 🙈

I don’t even like designer handbags (more of indifference to it) but watching you scrap that lambskin just gave me anxiety 😭😭

Even though my small collection is split 50/50 between lambskin and caviar, I think that I am more of team caviar as I don't feel as though I have to worry about the items quite as much, I am still cautious with either but lambskin stresses me out a bit more.

I purchased a black lambskin Jumbo with silver hardware and I absolutely loved how it looked and felt to the touch. If I had seen this video sooner, I probably would have felt more comfortable in using it. I was so afraid of it’s large size, weight, and lambskin leather that I returned it. I think I will look for a smaller size bag in lambskin instead, but that bag was a stunner!

I sold my lamb jumbo not because of surface scratches but because after few wears I had scuffed the corners - I replaced with caviar and I use it more now. I might get a smaller version in lamb for special occasions. Great video X

I have a smaller Chanel bag in lambskin with gold HW, and a bigger Chanel bag in caviar leather and silver HW. Both in black :) I have NEVER used the lambskin bag for daytime/work, but I have used the caviar one daily and in more special occasions. My guess is that both HW colour and material plays parts in that, personally I tend to go for silver for everyday use and caviar is definitely more durable in my opinion. My lambskin bag is my little baby though :)

Hi Mel, thank you for doing this. It's an eye opener. Great video! I am actually for team caviar but I do have calfskin as well. But you know what I think I will try the lamb skin next time. Just an FYI, the caviar if you think it's too worn out, you can bring it back to Chanel and they can fix it. I had them work on my tote that was scuffed at the corners and now it looks really good. It didn't seem it got scuffed at all. They weren't able to fix the creasing though. And yes the lamb skin looks much nicer than the caviar. Oh quick question, what do you think would wear better in terms of structure through the years? Thank you again.

I'm more convinced that the Lambskin is much more lovelier . I would prefer a soft buttery feel ,and I'd reach for it more than a stiff structured bag . Both bags are beautiful but the Lambskin is more sophisticated looking too.

I agree that bumping into things may be better if the bag is caviar. Do you think the jumbo size is more casual than the medium/large? That's what others have been saying, but do you ever use your jumbo for weddings and other formal events?

This video is super old by the time I’m watching it but it is so informative! All of my chanel’s are lambskin! I personally think that the caviar in bags looks plastic like? Especially now we’re in 2021... the prices are crazy and I don’t want to pay over 6k for a plastic hard looking bag! I however have just bought another classic flap in lamb and I am now terrified of scratching it since the prices have gone up even more! Love your videos! Xxx

My vintage flap is lamb with gold hardware. My WOC is silver in caviar. I really feel that lamb is dressier. I love them both but I'll reach for my WOC and use it as a daily grab and go. Your videos are great and very informative. Thanks for sharing.

I have a Lambskin Trendy CC 19 in Vert (basically a Tiffany blue)...I knew nothing about the difference of lambskin and caviar when I made the purchase. I do like the look of the lambskin, but for my next one, I think I will try caviar so I can compare. This video was very helpful

Hi Mel .... I have reserved a hand bag in Chanel boutique in Beige colour lamb skin , until 23rd September the new collection comes in. The bag is from their pre autumn winter collection. The price is quite reasonable and it has more space than medium large classic flap . It has same quilted lamb skin and the model is like a envelope one. Its a pretty handbag . What do you think about the beige colour !! they said that beige colour doesnot come often .

I needed this. Everyone keeps saying get caviar because its more durable but your bag looks fine and its been yrs however maybe the newer lambskins are horribly made or something because ppl complain about severe scratches and wear within a fee months

Fantastic video! I wonder how comfortable is the chain/leather intertwined strap. Some reviewers find the chain strap a little uncomfortable as they leave marks on the shoulder. Also, how does caviar and lambskin compare to calfskin?

How is it holding up after 3 years?

Oh well, I'm looking at $14,000 in handbags! I opted to buy an "inspired Chanel" lambskin (not a replica, but an inspired -- without a logo of course), so I won't be crushed when it shows signs of wear. If I had spent $7,000+ (with sales tax), I'd have to select the cavier for durability. I agree with liking the look of lambskin when it is new.

This was just an awesome video, best ever. I love what you said about go with your heart not your head, that is so true and you just made up my mind for me.
