To avoid the chain imprints, you need to open the bag before adjusting chains. Keep the bag unlocked during storage to avoid snap button indentation.

I think i needed this because I'm contemplating buying the classic flap. Since its black it will be one of my main bags so i need it to hold up. I generally take good care of my bags everyone is stuffed and still in their dustbags and boxes.

Can you tell me what leather lotion you use?

I’ve been wanting to get my first Chanel bag, and thought I would prefer the caviar (classic ml flap). I went into different boutiques a couple of times and saw around 5 in caviar and thought they all felt plastic-y and almost rubbery 😭. Maybe its been a bad season for caviars? Then I decided to ask to see a lambskin bag (trendy cc) and Omg the buttery leather was soo luxurious and amazing 😍. Thanks for doing a long term wear and tear!! Definitely leaning more towards a lambskin bag now 🤔

I originally bought the classic flap in caviar and I ended up selling it to rebuy it in lambskin because the caviar just didn’t feel nice enough especially for the price 😅 I remember reading so many conflicting things regarding the wear and tear of lambskin but I decided I rather have lambskin anyways. Luckily I think I made the right choice 😄 I say if you’re more drawn to lambskin go for that!

You should buy a sheet of soft felt, make custom openings and wrap the back with the chain on the outside. It will protect the back of your bag and prevent dents

Hi Carol! Thanks for this video on the long-term wear and tear. I just purchased my first Chanel lambskin flap bag this past week, while on vacation in NYC. I wasn't sure that I would keep it, because in hearing from others, it seemed like such a hassle for maintenance just to keep it in great condition. I'm almost afraid to use it. I had planned on special occasions only, since I was told to handle it minimally. I am curious how much you touch your bag, since it's inevitable, when you go out. Anything special you do? Your bag looks great at the almost 5 year mark. I am loving your card holder too and debating on getting one of those to fit into mine. I was trying to find mine online, but I believe it was boutique only limited release. The receipt reads 'flap bag agneau / beige'. It's lambskin in an almost pinkish beige tone with black leather edging for the trim. Looks like a mini flap size, even though it doesn't say that...and I've already received a ton of compliments on the style and color, before I've even used it. Great review! Would love your opinion! I think I know exactly which bag you’re talking about and it’s really pretty! Congrats on the purchase! I don’t really do anything different when I use my lambskin bag compared to any other bag, although I am pretty careful with my bags in general. From my experience, touching it isn’t what ruins the leather; it’s more so bumping/rubbing it against things or getting it wet so I don’t use it in crowded spaces or when it’s raining. I’ve never had to condition the bag before but from what I’ve heard leather conditioner should be fine if needed (but test it on a spot that’s hidden just in case first). However, it’s not a good idea to weatherproof it. I say if you love the bag, keep it and enjoy using it. Some wear and tear will be inevitable but it’s not as fragile as it might seem 😊

Hi! I have small marks inside my lambskin WOC as well. I tried using leather lotion to buff it out and my fingers but those marks do not go away! Do you know if Chanel repair is able to help remove them? Or if you found a way to buff them out? :(

I’m not sure if they would be able to repair it but you can bring it to the boutique to ask. Are the marks deep? I find that scratches inside bags are inevitable so if it’s normal wear and tear try not to let it bother you too much.

I never thought i would say this, cuz i always prefered caviar over lambskin, but now i love lambskn more and it really looks lux and looks as its worth the bag. tbh on minis lambksin quality is not as so good as in cf and trendy cc for example, especially on pearl crush minis the lambskin quality isnt so good,, anyway, after having trendy cc i fell hard in love for lambskin bags. truly looks beautiful and really feel the quality of the bag and the brand, so....

Yeah I’m not a fan of the softer unstructured lambskin on the pearl crush minis either. They just look deflated to me…

My Trendy cc wrinkles the same way. I guess it is an inevitable wear and tear when it comes to lambskin😕. I even got wrinkles some areas in the back.

Yeah wear and tear is inevitable but worth it in my opinion because lambskin is so luxurious looking/feeling.

Can I ask you Carol if you have ever had any issues with colour transfer to your light lambskin SLGs from the burgundy interior of your classic flap or reissue? Thanks in advance 😘

I’ve never had that issue before with the classic flap and reissue. I’ve found that if the interior of a bag is a darker colored suede or fabric, there could be a bit of color transfer though.

Hi Carol, Thank you for this video. I want to ask your opinion on something please. I just bought a WOC in beige lambskin. I wanted beige small bag to add to my collection. It looked so classy and elegant and I decided to get it. After coming home I began to have doubts because my other Chanel m/l is in caviar and I am afraid the woc is gonna get a lot of wear and scratches. I went for the lambskin because of how luxurious it felt, and because I’m not planning to use it daily, so mainly a going out bag. Also, I read that you can get away with smaller bags in lambskin because they don’t swing around and are less likely to scratch on surfaces. Still, I’m afraid I’m gonna regret going for it. I usually baby my bags but I don’t know...what do you think?

I think it should be okay in terms of scratches since it’s not going to be an everyday bag. I would potentially be worried about color transfer though depending on what you intend to wear it with because the color is so light. If you want to wear it with jeans a lot, maybe a darker color lambskin would be better.

When storing without dust bag and so forth, do you stuff your bag with something inside to maintain its shape?

I think the only thing that can be done is to let it dry completely and hope it dries evenly.

Hi Carol, I want to get the classic flap. I love the lambskin but afraid of its fragility. I think that you have the lambskin 7 years now? How is it? I honestly haven’t used this bag much in the last two years…maybe once every 2 months so not much has changed with wear and tear. But I still love lambskin - I have two other lambskin classic flaps that I use a lot as well as some other lambskin bags too. No regrets whatsoever. I actually bought the caviar version of this bag initially and that one I definitely regretted which was why I sold that to buy the lambskin.

I’ve always just accepted it as it is but now that you mention it, you’re totally right! Maybe one day they’ll finally get rid of it like Dior got rid of that annoying zipper on the Lady Dior.

That zipper is designed for love letters to be stored in. I think it adds a lot of culture to the Chanel piece and I’m glad they don’t change it
