Chancellor Peak - Summit Scramble

The mountain that was at the top of the list this year. Last year when we did Mount Vaux right next door I knew in my heart that this year I would be standing on top of Chancellor Peak. Ended up spending a lot of time studying the route, with 2160 m of height gain & a lot of route finding there was no doubt in my mind that this would be a physical & mental grind. I had a hard time finding the ledge traverse but otherwise nailed the route, just wish I would have brought with me either Rock or Approach shoes for the slab near the summit. Very smooth and featureless slab with serious exposure & my boots had a hard time gripping. Figured my boots would handle the slab after Northover the previous weekend but it's a different kind of slab. Thankful to have nice weather & clear conditions minus some smoke that rolled in while I was descending from the West. This was a serious scramble & a true adventure. Looking forward to my vacation starting Saturday & gearing up for four days straight of peak bagging, cheers. First song is Dead Cowboys by Dust. Second song is Time Is the Enemy by Quantic. Third song is The Path and the Rain by Isle'r.

I was just exploring on google earth and found this mountain and just knew it would be an incredible mountain to summit, if possible. So i came to youtube to see if anyone's done it and found this! Incredible. So cool you did it!

@RockyMountainMan372 ya after erradicating f***book from my life I haven't seen much of the algorithm treat me to the people I use to interact with. But, you crush. And... Im glad they showed me your videos after Doug's. Keep on killing it, brother. Im down in the Kootenays now if you want to hit up anything spicy down here.

🎉Congratulations. Chancellor peak is a very tough mountain to scramble. At the top where the slabs are, our group didn’t go up to the ridge and followed cairns to this less difficult terrain. Huge pain coming down though since there is small rocks on slabs. I’m pretty sure I did Chancellor peak one week after you did. Great but difficult mountain. Love the vedio, you are always smiling and positive. Love that you quoted Reinhold Messner. Again congratulations on summiting one of the hardest scrambles in the Canadian Rockies.

Well done Logan! Doing this solo without a gpx track - relying on yourself and your judgement only - is especially impressive. These are great videos, very informative; always looking forward to the next one. Congrats on bagging your major summit goals for the year!

Thanks for the kind words, and for taking time to watch the videos. Took a lot of years building up to this one. Happy to have the journey & stand on top so I could soak in those views we missed on Vaux last year. Cheers

@@immanuelkint8865 I would start with easy to moderate scrambles. I follow Alan Kane’s Scrsmbles in the Canadian Rockies guidebook.
