Chamber Divers: The Dr Rachel Lance Interview

Спорт

If you're a diver who wants to understand what is happening inside their body whilst we dive, I have a book recommendation for you...
Chamber Divers: The Dr Rachel Lance Interview
Dr Rachel Lance has exhaustively researched and written the story of the scientists who discovered the gas physiology principles that govern the rules we use in SCUBA Diving today.
Why is our Nitrox O2 pp limited to 1.4?
How much CO2 can a rebreather diver tolerate before undesirable consequences occur?
How can we make submarine operations safer?
The research of J.B.S. Haldane and his crew of scientists was a race against time during world war II and directly contributed to the success of D-Day Special Operations.
Thanks so much to Dr Lance for spending time with me and sharing this previously untold story with world.

Hearty thanks to you and Rachel Lance for this interview. As a diver, undersea medical professional and hyperbaric chamber operator and teacher, as well as a history buff - this book sounded like it would hit all my marks. So, I immediately got it and it certainly has done exactly what I had hoped. It is thoroughly enjoyable with its scientific accuracy and humorous style. Actually, have to force myself to put it down in order to get daily necessities done. Bravo and brava!

What a TERRIFIC book!! Bought the Kindle (and audio) versions as soon as it was released, and have been absolutely riveted! Unbelieveable the tenacity, courage, and dedication of these scientists. Thanks for introducing your broader audience to Rachel Lance - a scientist and badass former Navy Diver in her own right, she writes like a skilled mystery author, keeping me glued to the book for hours on end. I’ll never think about the models and algorithms the same way again. Thanks James, and thanks Rachel!

Obviously not read Rachels book yet (but will definitely be getting it ordered!), but for anyone interested in this area would very much recommend The Sunken Gold by Joseph A. Williams, which tells the story of the recovery of 44 tons of gold from the sunken HMS Laurentic off the shore of Ireland from 1917 by Lieutenant Commander Guybon Damant who worked with J.B.S. Haldane. Rachels book sounds like a great read.

I’ve done 6 chamber rides @ 2.4ata for 110 min. It’s repairing my nerve damage But I know what study she is talking about. I think they took them to a max of like 7 ata. On rebreathers and the cause of the oxygen toxicity what due to co2 retention
