Enjoyed this video - especially the big cats. I haven't ever seen a white bengal tiger in person before. It is beautiful. It is funny how much big cats do act like house cats at our house. The cheetahs are cool to see too - especially when they are up and running. I am not sure I have ever seen a yak before in person either. Thanks for sharing Chahinkapa Zoo with us!

I heard her screaming, it was really scary. There were several of the other birds pecking her. I yelled at them but that didn't help, so I ran to the gift shop to alert staff of the issue. I was relieved she wasn't too badly hurt. She got pampered after her ordeal, hopefully she was housed in a different habitat so it doesn't happen again.

This was another great tour, yet again I really do appecate you take time to do a quick showcase of the enclousers. But, I do have to say that some of these enclousers were awfully small. Especially the poor bears, tigers and courgar (you could see how the front bear was pacing), they were the smallest I have seen in your tours. I hope this zoo plans some furture expansions/improvements for those animals.

Overall it's a nice zoo, I am not a fan of chainlink type habitats. They we're AZA accredited at one point. Hopefully they will be able to enlarge a few of the habitats in the near future.

I was over in the hill near the deer when I heard that poor hen screaming. I ran over yelling at the chickens to stop but that didn't help. I didn't include the footage I had as it was too gory. I am glad the staff came quickly and got her. You never know what can happen, even at a zoo.

You help get the word out for conservation that the zoos are doing thru your videos, too. Tom, there are other credentials that zoo's can apply for. ZAA, SSP, The Cheetah foundation and other animal foundations. Those are as strict as the AZA. Also state inspections are an important part of owning a zoo. Lot's of restrictions and things you have to maintain.

a not so fun fact: all Bengal Tigers in US zoos are not pure bengal. as we got better with DNA testing it became apparent that the bengal tiger population accidently had some Malayan and Amur tigers mixed in with it. This is why the AZA phased out Bengal tigers and focuses on the 3 pure subspecies available in american zoos(Malayan, Sumatran, and Amur). Tiger taxonomy is currently a mess as lumpers and spliters are fighting over what populations should be considered a subspecies or just a locality, so nowadays you will almost always only see "bengals" at non-AZA facilities. This is also true for leopards, the AZA only manages the Amur Leopard subspecies, so all African Leopards are mixes of African, Amur, and Sri Lankan leopards. Though unlike the tigers which has a cold weather subspecies(amur) and two warm weather subspecies(malayan and sumatran) some zoos especially in the south want a warm weather leopard subspecies as the Amur Leopard and distantly related snow leopards(which are actually closer in relation to tigers than to true leopards) are both cold weather, so some southern AZA zoos are bringing generic African Leopards back, I personally hope this push can lead to an import of pure african leopards and sri lankan leopards.

Thank You for sharing that information, most zoos have Amur Tigers. Perhaps that is the reason why.
