Great debate. I really wish to have you, Chael and DC Have a weekly talk show. AT LEAST MONTHLY. Such great stuff.
Izzy did say that he didn't wanted to fight 3 in a row with Alex but never denied one next fight with him. He said that he deserved an immediate rematch because of the work he has done as a champion and the company and Pereira has only fought a few times in the UFC so he needs more work to get a rematch. For me this makes sense and even if he said that he didn't want an immediate rematch he said that if Pereira do the work, he deserves another shot. Also, besides all of that, I think that for the UFC and money making is better to have a dominant Adesanya on Middleweight and let Pereira move up to Light Heavyweight and maybe be a king there and after some fights do the big rematch and triology. For me this is the best approach for the company and also for the 2 fighters because Adesanya now is on a legend level spot and nobody denies that Pereira is a beast so none of them have lost any respect or fame on this fight only the belt of Pereira. I think they both will still have an amazing fighting journey and it's better for all to give them space before another fight.
your contrasting styles coupled with your knowledge of the UFC undeniably make you our fav

yes.. they brought him to his hometown.. he was the second fight from the top.. and there was a major title fight.. that’s not a problem
In my opinion chael is exactly right about the backup fighter. Equate this to any other job in the world and you’ll see what he’s saying. Backup fighters get paid even if they don’t fight. Even at 50k flat rate a fighter (which I’m just estimating on) that’s a pretty penny to just show up and make weight. However if you do by some crazy odds end up fighting you will get paid your normal contract purse as well as getting a title fight. Not to mention all the media mentions how “this guy was ready to fight either opponent”. It’s a win-win all around unless you’re a disliked fighter
Chael works a mma guy talking about mma it makes it refreshing
Chael is right… I was left scratching my head on weather he actually retired or not….. good speech eitherway…..

Chael always whatever platform he's on the most views.
That's a gr8 point about how it could impact Shavkat and Belal. I hadn't thought of it from that perspective. I can see Colby being next. But it sends a really bad msg in some ways I think. Now Gilbert said he'll sit out until title shot. And if Belal wins his next fight, why wouldn't he do the same exact thing, some might even argue why doesn't he do it now? One starts to wonder, will we start seeing guys get to #2 and #3 and #4 and just say, "I'm not gonna fight again until after whoever is above me fights or loses and I'm up next according to rankings?" Like could fighters just go for top 5 or top 3 and then say they'll just wait for their shot? I see what Ariel is saying, that hadn't occurred to me. That's a really strategic way to look at it I think.

It’s Chimev! Both Colby & Dana white have publicly confirmed that that Colby said yes to Kamzat & that the fight wasn’t made due to Kamzats weight issues. I hate when inaccurate statements are made. We know 1 of them was Kamzat & we know the 2nd one was Dustin. The rumor is the 3rd was Gilbert who instead took the Masvidal fight but that one is only a rumor.
chael is much smarter than ariel
The back up fighter is like insurance. Fighters frequently have to back out of fights due to injuries and when you have a back up waiting who could potentially be an even better matchup than the original it helps keep it exciting in case of a cancellation. In some cases you may even hope one of the original fighters do back out if the backup is a strong enough name. I would love to see Gilbert fight Colby in case Leon backed out or vise versa. I like knowing that no matter what there will be a fight and if you show up in shape and make weight as a backup you absolutely deserve the next shot.
