Chad Smith Plays "Can't Stop" | Red Hot Chili Peppers

Watch Chad Smith perform 'Can't Stop' from their eighth studio album, 'By the Way.'
Chad Smith's drumming style is heavily influenced by funk, which is evident in this song. He infuses the song with infectious, groovy beats that perfectly complement the band's sound.
'Can't Stop' was a commercial success for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It reached the top of the Modern Rock Tracks chart and also performed well on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in the United States. The song has been a staple of the band's live performances since its release. It's often featured in their concert setlists, and its energetic and upbeat nature makes it a fan favorite.

Really love the way Chad treats the recorded studio drum parts. They’re the basis of the song for radio, but when switched to a live setting it means nothing. It’s a jumping off point for him to jam, while still maintaining the hardest of grooves. You know what it usually sounds like, you’ve heard it a thousand times, so here it is with 4 times the energy. The guys sense of fun behind a kit is infectious. Love it.

I was working in a rehearsal studio and the Peppers were in there for about a month. Every day, Chad, Flea and John would just jam for an hour or so before Rick Rubin and Anthony got there. It was unreal, like Hendrix with Bonham and Jaco for a rhythm section. John sang a bunch. Some of the best live music I've heard and it never saw the light of day. Same with STP. They'd jam for hours before Weiland showed up. Another great band with a powerhouse in the back.

Have you guys already done Throw Away Your Television, Purple Stain AND Don’t Forget Me? Or plan to do them? Let me take a look at your uploads... Cheers!
