Matthew 10:37-39 "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. There is mercy and forgiveness when one repents. That offer will not always be available. Hebrews 12:14-17 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.

Yes , god loves us unconditionally , but if we love him in return , then we give him back that love through our obedience of his word... This is my beloved son. Listen to him , that is god the father saying be obedient to the word of God We have a choice to follow God or not to follow.. Those who go to hell choose to go to hell by not loving God and following his way. He tells us this over and over again. In scripture and workout yourslvation with fear and trembling.. The fear of not loving him He died so we could receive the grace of repentints. And with that repentance comes eternal life but theyre must be repentance

Be perfect as the heavenly father is perfect is Which scripture tells us can we be perfect? We can be perfect in our love and perfect in following him and perfect when we Sin 2 confess our sins. And to always be looking towards him , but we do have our part in all of this his love

We can't ignore the rest of the gospel. Jesus taught the law. Jesus taught obedience. Jesus taught freedom from sin and death. His law stands. Yes, the Galatians were getting circumcised in the flesh to be saved (Circumcision is of the heart). You added dietary laws to it. You are trying to teach and barely using any Scripture which is the written truth that we were given. To anyone who reads this.. Turn from your wicked ways and turn to the Savior. John 8:11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and SIN NO MORE.” John 8:34-36 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. Matthew 5:29-30 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Romans 8:1-8 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 1 John 2:3-6 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. 1 Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters. Ecclesiastes 12: 13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.

Good works aren’t the Gospel. “Good news! You have to obey Me! Good news! You have to get to work! Good news! Salvation is on your shoulders!” Be for real. The Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ for the justification and Salvation of sinners; the reconciliation of mankind to God through the Godman. Saint Paul makes a very clear distinction between the Gospel and the Law in Romans 3 & 4. This is exactly what Bird is addressing in the video. You heard the Gospel but then said, “Yes, but...”. There is no “rest of the Gospel.” The Gospel is Christ dead and raised again for you, and all the world, for the forgiveness of sins. The end. It is finished. Whoever believes this Good News has believed because of the gracious working of God the Holy Spirit, through the Word of Christ and the Sacraments. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. The Spirit of the living God is now in them by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Now, because they have recieved the Gospel in faith, and have come to know God in Christ, and have been made partakers in His love, they love, and seek a holy life through Jesus Christ, doing the works of His Father without compulsion, but out of great love for their Father and their brethren. Read Titus 3. See how Paul tells Titus to exhort the people to good works and piety. Is it by weighing them down with the Law? Is it by saying “Yes, but...” after preaching the Gospel? Nope. Titus was to preach the good news that God had saved them through Jesus Christ, apart from their own works, by faith and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and had made them heirs of eternal life in Him (Tit. 3:1-7); by preaching this, says Paul, the people will be devoted to good works (Tit. 3:8). This is how it works. God is the One who wills and works in us (Phil. 2:13). He works in us by His Word. You don’t need to add more to the Gospel. The Gospel of God’s free grace for sinners in Jesus is sufficient both to justify and to sanctify His people.

@@Lutheranjenkins I didn't add to the gospel and I never said that our good works are done outside of Christ. Christ taught the law and obedience (Matthew 5 and many more times) as did Paul (Romans 3:31 and many more times). We were all created for good works. Good works are all over the gospel. What did grace teach us? To deny ourselves and live righteously and what happens if we do not live how He wants us to live? That person is cursed. I don't add to His word and I do not take away from His word either. His word is my foundation. Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Matthew 25:31-46 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

@Quiet Strength You’re close but keep mingling Law and Gospel. The only good works relevant to the Gospel (defined by St. Paul in 1 Cor 15 as the death and resurrection of Jesus) are Jesus’. His passive and active obedience to the Father, culminating in His innocent and bitter sufferings and death for us, and His blessed resurrection from the grave. Christians are righteous by faith in Christ, and being made righteous, they seek to live righteously in Him. This is most certainly true. But this is not the Gospel itself. Faith in the Gospel brings forth willful obedience to the Law of God-but the willful obedience and the works of charity performed by the believer in Christ are not the Gospel or part of it. They are a response to the Gospel. The Gospel (lit. Good news, glad tidings) is the satisfactory death and victorious resurrection of the Godman. He brings God down from Heaven to us; He lifts us up to Heaven to be with God. In Christ, God spreads His tabernacle over the earth and dwells with mankind. This is the Gospel. We respond to it first with passive faith, and then with faith made active in charity. Passive faith justifies-active faith does not, but, having the promise, responds to it in love.

@Quiet Strength The Gospel is not the only thing God has said. He has given curses and blessings; promises and threats; He has mercy and wrath, and so on. Romans 3 is clear. Painfully clear. The Law is not the Gospel. The Gospel is not the Law. The Law does not justify. The Gospel justifes. The Law kills. The Gospel resurrects. God has given these two words or doctrines for distinct purposes. The Law condemns us in our flesh, stopping our mouths, so we may be held accountable to the living God. It exposes our sinful condition and points us to an external righteousness-for the righteousness of the law, which is by works, cannot avail before a holy God. The Law turns us to the Gospel-the Gospel is pertaining to the perfect righteousness of Christ Jesus, which is imputed by faith to the one who trusts in His justifying work on the cross and the empty tomb. So again, the Law is not the Gospel and the Gospel is not the Law or a new law. The Law is one thing and the Gospel another. Christians are justified by grace through faith and being freely justified by God’s grace and the merits of Christ, and their sins being forgiven and blotted out with the innocent blood of Christ, they willing do their Father’s bidding, for love’s sake, through the working of the Holy Spirit recieved by the hearing of faith. Good works are good. Do them! Do them because you love Jesus Christ and are loved by Jesus Christ, who shed His blood for you and raised you up in Himself to be seated in the heavenly places with the Father. But do not add them to the Gospel of Christ’s finished work. Do not make them a condition for grace. Nor say, after hearing the Gospel of grace, “Yes, but...” No buts. We are justified, we are sanctified, we are glorified, we are loved; we are set free to abstain from sin and do good. This is a promise. God promises that those who are in His Son will live this way. And when they fail, He will forgive their sins for the sake of His beloved Son. Go in peace. Your sins are forgiven for Christ’s sake. God will bring the good work He began in you to completion on the day of Christ Jesus.

Oh I see. You're coming from the perspective of young Christians. Faith plus nothing right? But you have to have faith in Jesus to become a Christian. If you never heard the gospel, you have to have faith that God's good, to be judged by Jesus to get to heaven. Their faith is considered as righteousness. Faith is the difference between heaven and hell.
