This qawwali song was written by Amir Khusro, a 13th Century poet also know as the "father of Qawwali music". Cheap Tilak has been sung previously by so many legends of the industry such as Abida Parveen and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to name a few. Have you heard the Coke Studio version of this? This sounds like a little boy singing this song. Sorry but the entire arrangement is very 90's Indian pop music. Tinny high pitched acoustic guitar, throw in table and flute...this sounds like a band hired for Rs. 1000 to sing at a wedding.

The original version is the best by Sabri Brothers which even Rahat and Abida Parveen cannot sing alike or close to it but everyone has a different style of singing and Salman nailed it.

Baapre.. I'm a FEMALE, self learning artist. I try to listen to the Male versions and sing because they sing mostly in low scale and that's comfortable for me too.. But yeh ladka kuch alag hi hai.. What a scale man! Dayumm! Really God gifted voice and hell lots of practice riyaz..
After listening the coke studio version by Abida Parveen and Rahat Fatah Ali Khan this one feels not on the same level. Great talent Salman Ali though ❤️

I guess there are dislikes because people are comparing him with Nusrat fateh ali khan sahab or with the version of abida parveen and rahat fateh ali khan. But they should understand that he is so young and it's not like he's competing with them. He has to grow so much before even thinking about reaching the heights of abida parveen and rahat fateh ali khan version. And about nusrat sahab version... I don't think he'll even think of reaching there. So you don't have to hate him because he's just trying and he actually isn't that bad. Coke Studio version is best and nusrat sahab version, can't even think of right words for that. But there are other singers who sung the same song. I don't see many people criticizing them. Grow up haters

Amazing singer with magical voice. One thing that I noticed that his fellow musicians haven't done justice with Salman and this Kalam. Such a dull music produced and there isn't a single touch of Sufiness in the music. But Salman appreciated as usual and hats off to him.
