Château de CHAMBORD | Drying out moats and feet of immersed walls | Flexible cofferdams on big bags

⚜️Domaine national de Chambord | Restoration of the stonework in the flowerbeds
Water-Gate© technology was chosen to restore the submerged masonry. The project involved raising a travelling vertical scaffold out of the water in several phases over a distance of 600 metres.
The technical challenge was to install a cofferdam that could hold back up to 2.50 m of water on uneven ground (piles, embankments, debris, slopes, silt, aquatic weeds, etc.) without damaging the river bed and with minimum impact.
To reach such a depth, we combined the solution of flexible cofferdams on a base of big-bags wrapped in watertight polyane sheeting.
