CFM56 ON A321CEO VS PW1100G ON A321NEO ENGINE SOUND TAKE-OFF AND MID FLIGHT

#A321neo #A321ceo #PW1100G #CFM56
Comparing the engine sound between the Airbus A321CEO's CFM International CFM56 and Airbus A321NEO's Pratt & Whitney PW1100G turbofans. Comparing both sounds during take-off and midflight.
In my opinion though, I just love how quiet those PW1100G are!

very good demonstration - clearly the GTF is much quieter, really very impressive. Gives Better understanding of its benefits & much more confidence that despite some current problems the GTF has a bright future.

It depends on the engine as well, if you are on a NEO with PW1100 engine then it will be quiet. The CFM is way louder although it uses advanced material, but still it is still a conventional engine. PW engine was designed differently, they incorporated their engine with geared mechanism to achieved the ultra high bypass ratio while maintaining the performance power of the engine. Because of the Gear, they can make the outer fan rotate differently(slower) than the inner fan making it a quieter engine.

Wow, the GTF is nearly silent. The buzz saw sound coming from the CFM is the tips of the bypass fan breaking the sound barrier. This causes huge stresses that need to be mitigated. The gearing allows larger but slower moving fans that increase efficiency.

do you think that the buzz saw sound from the CFM is because of that? I have no idea, but I don’t really think so… they lose so much lift and generates a big amount of drag if the speed is supersonic
