If Canon is boring, then what was so exciting in Nikon booth? Except that useless dancing camera arm robot. And *"look at how many incredible lenses Nikon has"* just makes Canon guys LOL all day long =)

I really am not talking about canon as a company or their products I don't really get into all of that pointless conversation. Canon, Nikon, Sony Pentax and all the other companies all have great products and attacking companies because you are a 'canon guy' or Nikon guy' just makes you you pretty foolish and silly. I was commenting on the the interest and quality of their booth at CES 2018, which was (compared to most other booths) terrible, uninspiring and very uncreative. as for their products, well they speak for themselves.

Just kidding, man ;) Although, beside the funny dancing robot (Canon has a railroad to answer! :D ) you video shows no difference between the boredom of Nikon and Canon booths =) I wasn't there, I judge by what I see in this short report. So if you say they were dull, so be it. Still that's the Nikon guy judging, LOL :P P.S. I'm a Canon DSLR guy now, but I still use my Nikon s6600 occasionally, with which I shot *on my channel* years ago. Surely, all brands have their pros and cons and each must have really entertaining booths, so no hard feelings =) In case anyone interested - soon I'll put out a *full review of all my cameras* (from cell phones through point'n'shoot to dslr and action cams).

What body and lens do you use to vlog?

A lot of flash, bang, wallop; but are Nikon and Canon in a twentieth century time warp with their square black cameras, and Sony after sales service? Worth checking behind the scenes. Mike in Oz

great thoughts and I would love to get a BTS into these companies, unfortunately we just gt to see their front facing products. All the companies you speak of have innovations in their own right and I don't think there will ever be a winner, just healthy competition that means us the consumer will. get better products. This was awesome! Recently found your channel and am a big fan.

By the way, real a9 owner here. At the Sony booth the dancer is dancing in front of a simple red color back drop. In real world use, the Lock-on AF is nowhere as reliable as a D500/D5/D850's 3D AF tracking. I usually use expandable focusing or zone focusing, but the Lock-on AF is really half baked in my opinion. Don't get the a9 if you rely on 3D AF all the time. On the other hand, Eye-AF is oddly more reliable than I've expected - even with adapted Canon/Nikon lenses. If you shoot people all the time and with large apertures like I do, I would recommend getting the a9.

Ha Ha - love the Radio One circa 1980's accent - nice video thanks. At least you didn't say "buttery smooth" "tac sharp" or "you guys" :-)

the video is pretty informative but the audio mix is terrible! Very exhausting. If you set the volume for your voice the music will kill you

I made this video in a rush and probably did a poor job of mixing. should have checked that. Thanks for letting me know, ill be more diligent in the future. Ill start mixing with headphones. always happy to hear about ways I can improve.

you should definitely give the A9 or ARIII a try it won’t hurt. You are going to be mind blowing of the auto focus and speed when it comes to eye auto focus and recomposition.

No Pentax? I'd love to buy that Wrangler though. Had a Jeep WJ for nearly 8 years, sold it last summer :(

No Pentax didn't make much of a splash, in fact I didn't even see them at CES 2018. I think I will get a Jeep Wrangler this year. why did you get rid of yours?

Hey Ed, thanks for the quick Review of the CES. I liked it! Audio was a little bit unbalanced, but People complained enough about it. I think you got it now. No mistakes allowed? The Drum Music in the Video was awesome, is there any Chance to see some Blue-Man Group stuff of you? I'm pretty sure you are Rockin and Rollin the Drums like an Tazmanian Devil.😀 Anyway, PLEASE stay who you are! The complaining about your accident makes me wish of more tolerant People. how fucking hard is it to adjust the audio??? OK, so SQ may have been lost and not much can be done about it, but it's soooooo fucking easy to adjust the volume to make it the same loudness throughout the video. No excuses for that!!

I certainly hopes, they have been in the background for a while now. they have there technology in a lot of things but art very consumer forward facing. what do you think they are going to come up with? What will be there innovation?

Do you mean long shot? Not long way lol.

i shoot with sony, canon and nikon bodies and they are all great cameras that give excellent results, however my sony SLT A mount camera bodies have two major features that lead the pack, first the Electronic viewfinder that allows you to see the finished product before you actually shoot the image which opens the door for many many other features and second is the body stabilization...........i shoot for pleasure....

I love Canon, I have shot with them for 15 years. But I have to say they setting themselves up to for a BlackBerry moment. The Sony A7RIII is close to perfection for it's price range, When the A9II is released it will probably be the same. The RX100 V is the king of the 1" point and shoot, and with the pending release of the a6700 if it gets similar upgrades to the A7RIII, it will own the crop sensor market. 4k is one thing, but once you shoot with IBIS it is hard to go back. I now prefer a EVF, and the BSI senors gain almost a stop in ISO performance. DPAF isn't a big deal, because Sony auto focus is almost as good or equal. I am planning on selling all my glass this year and moving to Sony. It is going to hurt financially, but in the long run I want to be on the side pushing usable features, and Sony is the one doing that.

I made the change from Canon to Sony last year. I have the Sony A7Rii. You should try I love mine!

I think they will stay innovative this year but not sure what 'special' they brought last year. my comment was more on the poor creativity that the team had in creating a booth for the biggest Tech show of the year. it was terrible and because of that it was empty.

GH4 is a way better video option at a way better option. Canon had a bad year

Canon CEO is 82 years old,....maybe that the failing??...and regarding Sony, I think for what you do it would be more suitable the a7riii,...I mean, at least you will shoot those Jeep jumping something and very fast.....

So you get to toy a bit with a Sony, without a memory card, just watching it focus and boom! you're dropping Nikon as a brand? Are you always that easy to manipulate?

If you watch the video you will see that I was impressed with the camera but before buying I would have to do some studio tests. So no I wouldn’t drop Nikon after 2 mins of testing focus. Thats wouldn’t make any sense.

nooo!!! slowly losing your accent Ed :( ;) don't get why you weren't allowed to film the wall, plenty others were using their phones ?? and you can keep your Nikon glass and use an adapter, Sony's own lens inventory is pretty weak

I could film the Sony Wall but next to it they had another Sony wall setup with all the information but that was what I wasn't allowed to shoot. it was a bit odd. maybe they just didn't like me.

It's a little difficult to take you seriously when you're out of focus for half the video.

Sony offers great cameras, but they just don't last, and their support is one of the worst in the business. I went towards Fuji instead....

Stopped watching: Music to load, way too loud.

Canon should stop making camera bodies and focus on their lenses and sony should sell camera bodies with canon lense mount. This will probably be the best selling stuff in Photography ever.

Harish Gupta this really would be amazing but I don’t see any of those big brands partnering with the other. Also the race is what keeps the tech getting better. It’s the consumer that is the winner with better cameras and lenses as the competition get stronger.

Photos In Color yeah i like what you said about "Race is what keeps the tech getting better". I also think canon should also improve the number of features in their cameras. Features that don't even cost much like GPS in entry level cameras and articulating touch screen in full frame cameras. They should try to match with sony in terms of camera body.

Harish Gupta Canon makes excellent bodies. I agree with you about Canon needing to include more features though. I wouldn't use a Sony if you gave me one. I have very large hands and they're simply way too small. They also feel totally unbalanced when a longer or heavier lens is attached. It's not all about megapixels either. I've seen a lot of 5DIV vs A7riii comparison videos recently and virtually every time the 5DIV images look better. This is my personal opinion, of course, but it's been the personal opinion of many Sony users too when viewing those same videos!

Just because Canon wasn't entertaining you chose not to cover their actual products? ughhh

I was covering CES rather than any specific products. Anything that caught my eye I gave a little time to just it it is for everyone at a show like this. Canon didn’t work to stand out and they didn’t. So neither did their products. There was just more interesting things to spend time with. No reason to waste time when I can just look at their products in a normal camera store.

firstly im not filming with a G7x, This was 100% shot using a Nikon D850. You can see that in the video. Also I didn't comment on Canons equipment being bad, in fact they make incredible equipment. I was merely commenting on how terrible, uninspiring and boring their both was at CES 2018.

Photos In Color I'm amazed by how you raved about the A9 AF speed when you were focusing on a guy who basically wasn't even moving from an AF point of view! His distance from you was constant. Any camera which couldn't keep him in-focus would be useless. Would you really consider changing from Nikon to Sony based on that or was that a tactical statement to keep the Sony fans on-side? Lol.

Ha ha ha! The accent!! This guy has totally lost his confidence and tries to blend in with a horrible Tony Blair mid-Atlantic drawl. Take some elocution lessons so you're not so easily swayed.
