    This is a great video that left me one question.: Is the 2-1 ratio mentioned in the video by volume or weight. It seems weight because of the small amount of water added to the powder. Just want to be sure. Thanks! BTW, this little jar of compound is a lifesaver!! I was going to buy a new tabletop which had an unbelievable $3,400.00 USD price tag. 36x60x0.5 and beveled.

    Can you please explain 2min30sec what is the difference in the fine grade and high grade, I have a scratch on a rear door window on a 2007 car, I can just feel my nail ever so slightly catching across it, Many thanks Andrew

  • @GlassPolishShop

    @GlassPolishShop

    2 жыл бұрын

    The difference between the fine grade and the high grade is the average particle size, in general cerium oxide even in a high grade is not suitable for removing scratches from glass unless they are hairline fine scratches, grey in colour like ones that you cannot catch with your finger nail, cerium is a polishing compound used to remove abrasive marks after the scratch removal process using abrasives. It can be used to polish and restore hazy, dull or strained surfaces, it is also used to remove light etching or mineral deposits from glass. It can also be used on rocks, minerals, marble, ceramics, or metal.

Do you have suggestions how to remove these swirl marks? Should I polish again using glass wool felt to remove it?

  • @GlassPolishShop

    @GlassPolishShop

    The swirl marks could result from the dirt particles on the pad or the windscreen. Make sure the polishing area is spotless and then repolished. You can try reducing speed to about 1000rpm's and putting more pressure on the pad while polishing. In general, we recommend using felt polishing pads instead of wool pads, as the wool pads may be too coarse for the job.

    Yes, you can use good-quality silicon carbide discs to remove scratches from the ceramic cooktop. If the scratches are deep, you will need to use a 3-stage sanding process starting with a coarse grit i.e P120 or coarse (depending on the depth)

    When sanding glass, it's important to use high-quality silicon carbide discs to avoid leaving swirl marks on the surface. Cheaper, poor-quality discs can make the polishing process more time-consuming and difficult. Make sure you select the highest quality discs available to achieve the best results. Hello, thank you for your question. The Cerium will not go off after time and will be good for years to come. You need to make it up as a thick cream consistency and try to use a small amount at a time to avoid wastage. The cerium will dry out on your pad which you can reactivate by applying water to the pad.

    We feel that at this speed it gives the ability of the cerium to work and grip the glass without it speeding over the glass and not doing anything and also making the glass too hot when polishing .

It will not remove deeper scratches. • @GlassPolishShop

    22 күн бұрын

    Thank you for your inquiry. Our glass repair system is specifically designed for use with rotary polishers. The reason it is not suitable for dual action or orbital sanders/polishers is because the rotary polishers provide the necessary speed and rotational force required for effective glass polishing. The unique movement of dual action or orbital sanders may not generate the same level of friction and pressure needed to achieve optimal results on glass surfaces. Therefore, we recommend using our system with rotary polishers to ensure the best possible outcome. If you have any further questions or need additional information, please feel free to reach out to us.

    @@RajeshPhanindra Allow me to explain how cerium oxide works. You mix it with water and apply it to glass using a felt polishing pad. Then, you use a rotary tool to polish the glass, effectively removing damage (though it's not suitable for deep scratches). Once you are satisfied with the results, clean and wipe off the surface. It's important to note that cerium oxide does not stay on the glass, so there is nothing to come off during heavy rain.

    It depends on the glass type: i.e. mirrored or laminated glass max temperature is 54° C (129°F), and Tempered Glass: is 82°C (179°F). The best practice is to use the back of your hand and check the temperature during the polishing process. When you feel it gets too hot, take a break and let the glass cool down.
