    I have used the Adam's Advanced spray after I applied the Advanced Coating. My plan is to deep clean and chemical decon this spring, then add a layer of the spray coating. Then in the fall, just before winter, add another layer. Then repeat next sprong. This car gets weekly or bi-monthly ONR washes. It is a daily driver, but garaged. My other cars got sprayed with the Griots 3 in 1. They two will be deeped clean, chemical decon. and sprayed with the 3 in 1 in the spring and fall. However these cars sit outside all the time. We're located in the midwest, so we have extreme winters and hot humid summers.

    Some of these are designed as sheeters and OT beaders. While it may look like water “sticking” it’s by design and minimizes hard water stains.

    It is. And truth be told, even if it didn't do as well in this test as in his (and many others'), it has done well in so many other tests and is a consistent top performer in so many of those, that I would attribute any less than top or close to top performance to something in this testing instance and not the product. It has proven itself time and again beyond question. Really believe it is fantastic.

    Thanks for doing this test! I'm all about cheap and low maintenance, lol. I'm curious about the nu-finish. I'm pulling for Sonax and NuFinish(I always feel like NF is an underdog!). One product I have rarely seen reviewed online is the Dinowax ceramic. At $22 stand alone for 2oz or $68 for a kit that includes metal decon and a spray and wipe aftercare, it almost seems too good to be true. I've used it on a garage queen and it's held up fine, but a real world test would be awesome. Thanks for all the great work!

    Coming up on year 4 of XPEL Fusion in the Northeast. I'm very impressed that the hydrophobics are still going strong on the upper panels without any toppers, but my experience is making me gravitate towards a sheeting product. I love beading, but I'd be stubborn if I didn't admit that the beading has made water spotting a serious issue for me. Luckily I have a white car, but if it were black I'm sure I'd have polished it off by now. I find it interesting that the products that look like they're "failing" early are sheeting and potentially minimizing water spots. I know there's ways to remedy water spots like acidic washes and mineral deposit removers, but I'm a fan of prevention vs less than ideal quick fixes. I also find it amusing how our industry flips out when someone washes their car with dish soap because it will "ruin their paint", but now we have products like CarPro Descale, which have a PH of 2, and no one seems to have any issues

  • @ScottHD

    @ScottHD

    2 жыл бұрын

    It's possible, however generally those products that sheet are specifically designed to retain a slight amount of surface tension and are hydrophilic instead of hydrophobic. Water spotting with "beading" seems to be a larger issue in the costal areas with salt air/moisture that then dries on the surface that is beading, but I also see how the same situation would apply in the northeast! I tested XPEL fusion several years ago and it was one of the top performers in that test. It was, however, from an installer standpoint very difficult to install here in humid climates.

  • @derek723

    @derek723

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@ScottHD I was surprised by how difficult it is to install in humidity given that XPEL is headquartered in Texas lol. The water spotting is brutal in Mass. I'm hoping some of these sheeting products you're testing prove to last a while!

    Hydrophobics - Sonax for the win, , TAC System, Gyeon EVO are close seconds. I use Griots, and it was much slicker and hydrophobic on father-in-law’s car. On a new RAV4, not so much. Followed directions exactly, clayed and washed using all Griots products 😔. Looking forward to the longevity of these products.

    I think a fun experiment would be to ask the viewers to predict the durability of the products and apply them on the panel in that order. It’d be interesting to see how our biases or expectations of certain products would pan out month after month. Alternatively, maybe apply the products by cost.

  • @ScottHD
