Central Lines on CXR

In this video, I go over how to tell the position of a central line. The central venous anatomy and landmarks are reviewed. Common positions of malpositioned lines are reviewed.
Also, since more than 60% of you are viewing on mobile, I decided to make this a vertical video. Let me know how you like it.

I really appreciate this video, a lot of informations If you watch this video (7.24min), you will realize that the tip of the catheter should be placed in the middle of right atrium as recommended by almost all societies of Nephrology around the world. Placing the tip in the atrium is crucial for assuring a great flow of 200 to 300 ml/ min and supporting high negative pressure during dialysis. Thank you for all you do in promoting medical education Professor Bouaggad.A Darsalam clinic of Casablanca Morocco

Great video as always! Have you considered a video on abnormal thoracic air collections (other than pneumothorax)? They seem common in covid, but I cannot find any video that goes into detail of the radiological appearance (plain film or CT). I believe it would be helpful and popular in these times for non-radiologists and trainees. I view on mobile but usually with screen rotated, so vertical is a new experience.

I am a picc/icu nurse, I have a patient with a picc line , tip lies around bracheocepalic/ subclavian vein , doc said to keep it and use is it as a peripheral line ,? Is this a good practice or it should be pulled out .?

I would say it is probably fine to use (if you are not infusing TPN or chemo) until a replacement can be placed. In that position, there is less "purchase" in the SVC, so I would be worried that it could flip up into the jug or coil back on itself. If a line is needed but you need something a bit more long term than a peripheral, you may also consider a midline.

Goodday My son's "lung collapsed" on the rugby field while playing a match.. he is 16 years old. He got a tube put into he's lung in the ER, but he's lung didn't rise, so they operated 2 days later, also because he's lung got worse. The doctor first told us it was a spontaneous collapsed lung, but after the operation he said he can't explain it, he couldn't find a bleb. While operating, the doctor and anesthetist blow or push, or something like that and a lot of mucus came out.. where, they couldn't tell me. And then he's lung blew up to normal. Questions 1) Where did the mucus come from and where did it go out? 2) Is it possible that he was sick and that is why it happened in the first place? 3) What is the possibility of it happening again? 4) What can we do to prevent it from happening again? 5) Can he play rugby, how long after surgery and will everything be back like to before it happened?
