A new Celtic song about a figure from Irish Mythology that many of you will recognize (at least by the name). =) I really don't want to explain too much about the song itself, let your imagination run free!

Fun fact: The Morrígan is a goddess from Irish Mythology. She symbolizes battle, strife, and sovereignty. She sometimes takes form as a crow, flying above warriors. Also, in the Ulster Cycle she also takes form of an eel, a wolf, and a cow. She is mostly considered a war deity comparable with the Germanic Valkyries, although her form as a cow may suggest a role connected with wealth and land.

I've read the Morrigan are also known of a triage of goddesses, and three is an auspicious number in both Celtic, Welsh, and Norse myths. She and/or her sisters, depending on the source I guess, are war goddesses that are connected to fate and destiny, much like the Valkyries and Norns. She lurks on battlefields to foretell death and I believe she is also spoken of as fierce and threatening, a terrific figure to any mortal or hero who comes across her.

This is beautiful, thank you. So many people, if they have even heard of the Morrigan at all, simply liken her to Kali in Hindu, a Goddess of death and hatred. Nobody ever seems to recall that both are also Goddesses of birth, protectors of new born babes and innocents. People think of "The Circle of Life" and always associate it with a cartoon, never stopping to think that it goes on all around us every day. Your song was a beautiful depiction of a woman so strong that she can carry a spirit into the world and bear it away again, without ever being defeated by the sorrow that must bring.

I discovered more about The Morrighan from a book I couldn’t avert my eyes from, “Feast of The Morrighan” . The book goes into more detail of who or what this goddess might’ve been, but there are still a lot of questions revolving such an elusive being

Beautiful song! Morrigan is the Celtic goddess of war. She is associated with battle, strife, and sovereignty. She often changes and appears in the form of a crow. Celtic warriors often cried out with crow sounds to invoke her help during battles.

I see ALOT of similarities in ancient cultures, its like we both want the same thing but express and do it differently you know? The celts and shamanism for example there are soooooo many similarities, the cult to nature, the elements, the spirit guids, the animal guides even The Other World in Celt mythology is present in a diferent way in shamanism. It is beautifull really ❤

Enchanted scale of beauty untold, Tales define of a maiden so bold. Of powers shift of beastly wild, That leaves a path like childish mild. Attentive heart in sheep of cloth, Amongst the crowd in search of troth. And judge the man of wicked and greed, Shall imbue her wrath with countless deed.

The Iberian Peninsula and Anatolian Peninsula too. In ancient Lusitania, part of present-day Spain and Portugal, a Celtic language was spoken even before the Celtic expansion of the 8th and 7th centuries B.C. Some philologists consider it to be a non-Celtic Indo-European language, while others consider that a branch apart from Celtic would be a sister language to Proto-Celtic, although with a close relationship to it. A minority current maintains that it is not a Celtic language but an Italic one. On the other hand, the Irish descend from the ancient settlers of what is now northern Spain. (not lusitanians)

wikipedia "Morrigan" redirects here. For other uses, see Morrigan (disambiguation). The Morrígan ("phantom queen") or Mórrígan ("great queen"), also known as Morrígu, is a figure from Irish mythology. The name is spelled Morríghan or Mór-ríoghain in Modern Irish. The Morrígan is primarily associated with fate, especially with foretelling doom and death in battle. In this role she appears as a crow, flying above the battlefield. The Morrígan has thus been likened to the Valkyries and Norns of Germanic mythology. She is also associated with sovereignty, and her connection with cows may also suggest an association with wealth and the land. The Morrígan is often described as a trio of individuals, all sisters, called 'the three Morrígna'. Although membership of the triad varies, the most common combination in modern sources is Badb, Macha and Nemain. However the primary sources indicate a more likely triad of Badb, Macha and Anand; Anand is also given as another name for the Morrígan. Other accounts name Fea and others.

Andreas Iliadis Χμμ.

I actually heard Heather Dale's Morrigan first, then this, then Omnia's. I love how different the three interpretations of the goddess is - it would also be super cool to see Adrian's take on Cernunnos.

Phillip Verano Yes. She would've appeared as a crow, wolf or cow. She is similar to the Germanic Valkyries in that she waits to take fallen warriors to the Otherworld. And the name translates to ''Phantom Queen.''

+Phillip “The Great White” Verano Yes and the celts were animists meaning they attributed spiritual progress to the animate and inanimate world. I think that these mythos are something that are meant to transcend time. The call of the morrigan is a shamanic practice for you not need her to be a literal god to use her metaphor.
