I was planning to only do the knot in the first video, but after 3 hours, and night of sleep, and roughly another hour, now I know how to make these pretty shapes. Is kind if unreal to see the result of my own hand. Thank you for this videos

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time watching all 21 videos and trying my hand at each. Having looked at several other tutorials on Celtic knots, I can say that by far you are easiest to understand. Your peaceful voice is so comforting and I would just love to reach out and hug you! I have one question, though: how in the world do you prevent pencil smudges?!

  • @davidnicholls100

+Debbie-Sue Felton Thanks for your kind comments, Debbie. Prevent smudges by having a spare piece of paper under your drawing hand at all times. You can hug me any time you like ! (cup of coffee some time???!!!)

Aline Beauvais The only book I have is Celtic Art by George Baine. It's a very good source book but don't take any notice of his construction methods as they are certainly not the way these designs were originally constructed. The methods I'm showing are developed from unfinished sections of original decorated Celtic manuscripts. I'm not aware of any books where this method is used, but that's not to say there isn't one. If there isn't, then there's enough material in my 22 videos to produce one - but I can't be bothered - maybe you can! Thanks for you interest and kind comments, Aline. David ps I am putting up a series on Thai art in a few weeks - stay subscribed.

What happens when there's a mistake in the "over-under" pattern? Are you sent to prison or do you get a dunce cap to wear for a spell? Do people point at you in the street and laugh under their breath? I've been doing the 6 linked trefoils in a hexagon today. It was my first time doing this and it took me hours to get it right. My drawing is a mess but the weave is correct. And then I noticed that in your boomerang-shaped trefoils one at bottom right is incorrectly woven.
