In this cello masterclass, professor Clive Greensmith and student @marcmartinnogueroles7803 work on difficult shifts and how to evoke the emotional range of the Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104, B. 191 by Antonín Dvořák.
What you will learn in this masterclass:
• Producing a legato devoid of unnecessary accents.
• How to change the quality of sound to reflect the emotional range of the piece.
• Closely following the expressive markings by the composer.
• How to practice and prepare for difficult shifts.
• Planning bow strokes, fingering choices, and vibrato that will bring out artistic choices.

Hi! Our piano was tuned slightly below 440Hz

It’s not 440, this is closer to 415… Perhaps you formatted all of the audio incorrectly, because I can’t imagine either of these cellists playing Dvorak concerto in Baroque tuning.

@@kaikobird It doesn't really matter, it is not as if composers in the past used 440

@@anonymousl5150True, as analysis of period tuning forks show. However, in the modern age we’ve all got used to exact pitches, so we tend to pick up changes.

The entire video is pitched down, for whatever reason.
