Mr. O'Toole ever the great actor.
I absolutely love this movie.
A special off beat film that's highly original and thought provoking. A cross between Squid Game and the prisoner but without violence. Full of surprises and has an unexpected ending. I was annoyed, intrigued and delighted by this film. It even has time travel as it starts in the mid 1960's and then has its own timeline. I hope they never remake this film. The story is perfectly told in what you see. Fame........we all desire it but at what cost to the soul ?
Anybody interested, the filming location is the Hotel Le Provencal in Juan-les Pins in the South of France. Maria Becker, the actress playing Dr. Frisch, has her last IMDB entry in 2008 at the age of 88, guesting in the long-running German series "For Heaven's Sake". She died in 2012. Andrea Ferreol, Theresa, will forever be burned in my memory as the female protagonist in 'Le Grand Bouf', a movie even more out there than this one.

Yes it sadly burnt and they turned it into appartments.
What a strange and unusual film. Iv never seen or heard of before. The actors all so brilliantly played their character parts so very well. A very young and handsome Colin Firth who is one of my favourite actors as is Peter O`Toole. I am not at the end of this really good film yet. I`m intrigued to find out how it ends.
Peter O’Toole the David Bowie of late 20th century film. Seen him on stage in London , rubbish play, but worth it for the sublime effortlessly sauve O,Toole ..
I absolutely loved every minute of this movie. Witty script and brilliant acting. One to remember! The last scene reminded me of an incident many years ago, when I happened to stay at a hotel in Düsseldorf, Germany, with some other girls for a training week. As I entered, I saw Richard Chamberlain sitting in the hall, all alone. I was the only person who had taken notice of him, and after we were seated in another hall, I told the girls who was sitting next door. They ALL jumped up and rushed to ask him for an autograph. They came back with a happy smile, and I'm pretty sure he liked it, too.

What a great movie I've never come across before now. And a lovely ending. I spy a very early Colinn Firth up against an outstanding by then actor, Peter 'O Toole. And he held his ground. A compelling story about life death and then a second chance at life again. 5 stars.
This was so unexpected and fascinating! I can find ZERO information about it! Director, synopsis, film locations, or even cast list. Makes it all the more intriguing. Thank You. Glad to have seen it.
What a unique and interesting film. Brilliantly thought out and acted. So glad I had the chance to see this. Thank you 😊
Great film. Kept me enthralled throughout. But I'm a sucker for anything other-worldly...
Funny thing is, I remember sering Colin Firth at the movie premier for St Trinians in London. I just happened to be passing on route to the comedy store and stopped to see what was happening. Various actors artived in limos but no one batted an eyelid till Colin appeared. Hoards of women that went completely crazy. Poor bloke looked terrified 😂
Whenever I find an interesting film, I've already watched it!
Great film and NO COMMERCIALS! THANK YOU
Thanks for posting - enjoyed it a lot.
Wonderful. Thank you very much for sharing.
Wow! LOVE IT!! It’s like a far-out-fusion of The Prisoner with Logan’s Run and Roma.
I will watch this again.

This movie is pure genius. The only major flaw was that I had no idea that the start of the movie was set in 1966 due to the fact that the clothes that the main actor wore were straight out of the 90s. I wondered why most of the others wore the sixties clothes though. Aside from that, the acting was superb (particularly Peter O'Toole) ans a great cast with a brilliant story and I love the ending. Also some rather cool cameo appearances! Sheer brilliance!
Modern surrealism, like it👌
what an awesome film. Bravo!
Very good film
I love Peter O'toole. Been a huge fan of his since Beckett. As great an actor as he was this film is proof that even the greats took bad projects just to stay working. I wanted to like this film but the ending sank it. It's as if the writers were on to...something, but couldn't figure out how to stick the landing. It's a shame because Peter O'toole had some great moments in the film and there is a message about the artist/intellectual/science/philosopher etc finding some degree of immortality beyond their life through their work. But that ending completely wastes the point. Oh well, there's always Beckett.
Good movie

32:30 This scene with the artist disappointed with his lack of reputation on earth could be borrowed from C-S- Lewis's "The Divorce of Heaven and Hell".
That's WINGS OF FAME, 1990
I thought mr Smith may have met his lover back on earth but didn’t happen.
The guy in the glasses telling him he couldnt see the busy person... He walked one way away. Then the other. Away. Then turned when confronted again. The other way. Two more times, again. Before departing in the opposite direction he was originally going. Indecisive pos, keeping the busy man's appointments. 😂
How shall i say? very nice but strange .❤❤🎉🎉
Most unusual !!
They treat aged male actors better than aged female actors. This was a sweet tribute to a great actor who is now aged. In contrast for Betty Davis and Joan Crawford, they had the awful ‘Whatever Happened To Baby Jane’ movie. Marion Davis, or some old-time movie star, they had her as some crazed loon, constantly reliving her movie glory in mad solitude. Maybe someday women will be treated well, especially older women, it hasn’t happened yet, and I wouldn’t hold my breath.
not a big fan of woody, but this was a good movie.
wings of fame...the hope that we will be treated fairly finally, oblivion comes to us all, enjoy your somethingness
I have questions already. Why did he shoot the actor he wanted to talk to?????😮
I liked this movie but the ending rang false. Still, anything with Peter O'Toole is worth watching, even if he is surrounded by bad actors.
Please God our father and you will be rewarded with heaven on earth.
Purgatory - Twilight zone - Beyond Heavens Gates - Crossing The Styx.
God I felt so bad watching mr. O'Toole destroying him self with alcohol. Absolutely love that actor. Vane guy to the bone, ho many roles he rejected, or got blown off cause of his personal life I can imagine. He would be a great movie villain for a few particular roles from spy movies to hammer horrors even but I don't think horror genre is for him. Too bad.

Not your usual hollywood fare. Which made it a winner already. Reminqed me a little of 'the prisoner', patrick mcgohan was it, pardon the spelling.
