A very enjoyable movie that I never heard of. I was fascinated by Melanie's ability to convey emotion with nuanced eye and facial movements. This puts her up there among very good, if not great, actresses.

Her voice is child-like. She shows no depth of thought or insight in her face. She is a "popular girl" of her time and does not seem to be aware of other times and cultures. Therefore, she seems unable to play the role she has in this movie. It is a lovely story, but made trite by the lead actors and, probably, by the director.

She was definitely miscast in this role, she acted exactly the same as she did in Working Girl, it was kinda cringe. Shame because the film besides that is good.

I thank my God I've been redeemed from the curse of the law, the law sucks all the life out of you, I worship God in Spirit and in truth.

All humanity creates a variety of structures and rules to make them feel safe. Even the assurance that someone worships the right god in what they define as spirit and their accalimed truth is an attempt at the same thing, is it not, a search for a "fundamental"?

Are you kidding? I've never seen a man so strong in a movie. A lesser man would have caved to her advances.

I have a crappy father figure in my life and many people, too. Are we all incapable to truly love? Sorry, it is bulshit. Relationships are about mutual respect and understanding. Not about mother and father - we don't choose those ....

Melanie’s demeanor is too soft for the role of a police woman. It’s more of a romantic movie than a crime drama.
