I’m 23 and about a week ago my hair started falling out in massive chunks after 7 years of taking care of my grandmother with dementia and finally putting her into a hospital, all of the sudden my hair starts falling out, I don’t have insurance to go to a dermatologist but I’m Native American and losing my hair is like losing part of my culture, I hope deeply that I will grow my hair back

That has to be horrifying. To grieve for your grandmother and lose your hair? My heart goes out to you. I suggest researching alternative options. I keep hearing about estrogen supplements but I’d get advice ahead of time. And if hair loss is connected to stress, definitely work on self love, anything to give yourself a piece of mind. I knew someone who started losing her hair while going through a traumatic divorce. One year later and with therapy along with finding ways to deal with distress, and her hair is growing back.

Just as things were starting to open after the pandemic I met with friends in a restaurant with a garden. We took pictures and in them I saw the sunlight bouncing off my scalp. Also, my eyes were extremely puffy. Not long before that I had to go to the ER because my IBS was so bad I couldn't walk. I realized my whole life I had been under some kind of abuse. First a bad home, then an abusive marriage and finally a toxic workplace. It's weird because, apparently, I had my life together, I was even getting treatment for depression, anxiety and ÇPTSD. But I learned no amount of care and treatment is going to work if you don't get out of whatever it is that's killing you. I saved up, payed up my home and retired early, and I am now focusing on writing fiction, which used to be my side gig. I know I'm lucky I was able to swing it. Took a long time, but I'm finally on the mend of everything

I really appreciate you being so open and vulnerable about this! I've recently resorted to wearing wigs as my hair loss is what I'd consider beyond salvation. I'm not sure what the technical term is (androgenic alopecia?) but I was on high doses of testosterone for treating gender dysphoria for a long ass time and it caused me male pattern hair loss. I didn't need to see a doc to figure that's the cause. I'm now detransitioning to be a woman again, but with this stage of hair loss (around Norwood 5) there's very little hope for restoration. I was in deep denial of it for a little too long, and everyone in my life kept telling me my hair looked fine. It's not. It has a very high hairline with a whispy little widow's peak, and I lost about 80% of the original density. No bald patches aside from the hairline, but it's so thin and fine that it breaks super easily and can't grow long anymore, or properly cover my scalp. Eventually I just got so anxious about it that I couldn't keep going like that. So I decided I'm just gonna shave it off and wear wigs instead. And I've been doing that for some 6 months of so now. It's kinda annoying but it makes me feel like I look like myself. I'm not comfortable going out bald in public because even when shaved my hair loss pattern is very obvious, and it looks a lot like a man's hairline. I would have to razor shave it every day and put makeup on it for it to look presentable and I just don't have that kinda patience. Also I went straight for wigs and skipped toppers and extentions because my bio hair is so fragile it really can't handle any extra weight pulling at it, plus my hairline is my biggest issue, and wigs is the only thing that can cover that. I'm coping fine at this point but sometimes it does get difficult and I have my occasional bad days when I just feel horribly ugly. I did spend about a year grieving my hair back in 2019, and I feel like I've processed through most of that by now. But it does still feel like I lost a part of my identity and womanhood. I don't beat myself up for the decisions I made in the past though. I stayed on the testosterone for as long as I did because it did genuinely help me feel better about my body overall, and that helped me through a very difficult time of my life. Even though I later on realized I'm not transgender, I can't regret doing what I did to survive.

So sorry to hear you battled with that Cassandra. Thank you for opening up about all these issues, it helps to normalise it for all of us. I lost about a quarter of my hair after being hospitalised with Covid pneumonia in 20/21. It grew back but I was heartbroken at the time . Had 2 further bouts with hospitalisation , blood clots, as well as having an operation to remove a breast cyst which also caused hair loss rollercoaster. But it’s grown back every time so not too anxious about it many more. Having quite a bit of magnesium which as soon as I up my daily dose, I feel the difference in my hair and nails. You are such a good role model Cassandra, love watching your videos

Even though my doctors said the same about my vegan diet, the moment I resorted to incorporating meat, fish, eggs and more protein generally, not only my hair fall ceased the NEXT DAY, but also my brain fog was lifted amongst other things. Everybody is different. But my body’s equilibrium looks like this and my hair grew back thick in no time. It was absolutely my diet for me.

@@Looksthatkale and when I tell you my hair fall ceased the NEXT DAY. It ceased the NEXT DAY. As dramatic as it sounds. I just had a severe protein deficiency solely from my vegan diet that I very proudly was on for a decade. In a few weeks, my random vague ailments and brain fog lifted after adding protein. My vegan diet turned out to be not sustainable to me mainly because of my declining mental health that was directly caused by my hair loss and vice versa. Nobody is asking anybody to quit a vegan diet, how about “try” incorporating more protein into your diet for a few days/ weeks to see if it may be the cause? Our bodies weren’t designed to be restricted to a certain diet. Moderation of everything is key. Does this sound too crazy? Ok. Il just stop fighting for my fellow hair loss girlies then. Rather than be bullied. But there is nothing I wish more than to stick to my vegan diet to this day, my body doesn’t approve or cooperate though.

I'm in my 50s and I just saw a derm because of my excessive hair loss. Of course, she ordered lab work first just to make sure everything is okay on that front, and we surprisingly discovered that I have significant hyperthyroidism! Thank God she ordered those tests! I'm waiting to see an endocrinologist to get this addressed, and she said when I do my hair should return to normal. I totally understand how emotional hair loss is, and I send huge hugs out to everyone who's dealing with this! And Cassandra, you're doing a great service by making these videos, educating people, and letting them know that they aren't alone! 🤗

Get a water filter for your shower head, yall! It helps! Avoid fragrance! Up your vitamin D and Vitamin C! Get your thyroid, inflammatory, autoimmune, Prostaglandin, etc levels checked and make sure you are hydrating with electrolytes and things to help retain moisture in your oral intake and not just water alone! Drinking water without enough salts can actually leave you more dehydrated! Wash your hair brush with antiseptic soap that works for fungal and bacterial growth in between uses! You can also use safe body soap on your scalp, too, and sometimes fungus/bacteria on the scalp can cause issues with hair health! If youre hypermobile and have possible allergies/ibs, maybe consider starting antihistamines (under doctors observation of course) like pepcid and zyrtec/Claritin, as well as mast cell stabilizers/antioxidants like CoQ10 and Qucertin! Check your products for your allergies and sensitivities/intolerances. I developed an mild allergy to coconut and was using products with it in it and i would get breakage two days after using a product. Lots of products have gluten that probs dont need to and celiac disease/ secondary gluten intolerance can lead to issues if your products have gluten in them.

My hair fell out so much that I had wispy "chemo" hair. Turns out it was because I was Type 1 Diabetic and being treated for Type 2. My friend on the other hand bleached her hair so much, styled, overloaded with products and abuse, she loss her hair too. Both of us were told it was Alopecia. It was a horrible time, I was so conscious because I had the best hair before, never needed to comb it, it was straight, no frizz, right out of the shower and air dried. Now, I just tie it back because it grew looking disheveled and frizzy.

My previous comment was deleted because I included a link, but I'll try again. Thank you for being so honest about hair loss. I went through a bout of hair loss as a teenager due to stress, and it was pure hell. Hair loss in women doesn't seem to get taken seriously because it's seen as just a cosmetic issue and we are vain or shallow for caring so deeply. Losing your hair is so incredibly difficult and your honesty about it is refreshing and comforting. Sending you virtual hugs, you are not alone in this. I believe the device Lili Reinhart is using is the Celluma Restore device. It is not cheap, that's for sure!

It's true that it's very important to find support. I hv been struggling with hairloss ever since late teenage..and my parents always dismissed my emotions or thought i was too vain for caring too much for it. It made it worse for me. I cried alone in my room after every hairwash day. I was too ashamed to talk about it with my friends. It has gotten a lot worse over the years..and i realise it has become more obvious now perhaps..i never really got a lot of support from my surroundings...but what helped was that i became a doctor.. I'm currently a doctor still studying for my specialization, so very new to the field..but I'm trying to treat myself, both my hairloss and the psychological aspect associated with it. Learning the science behind it has helped me a lot, atleast emotionally i think. It's something called " isolation of affect" which means trying to eliminate the emotional response from an event and purely dealing with it factually, like i would treat a fellow patient. I'm writing this because your videos have helped me a lot when i had no other emotional support. Thank you for doing this.

I'm almost 30, My hair started falling out when I was in my early 20s. At the time I was dealing with so much stuff I couldn't even be bothered to figure out what was going on. Eventually I looked in the mirror and realized how bad it had gotten and broke down, I called my dr crying and we started the long road of tests a week later. After a few months we figured out it was PCOS related. Fast forward to now and my hair is still super thin, its getting better but still not where I'd like it to be. Hair toppers have been a game changer for my confidence though, I almost always wear one when going out. They're so much more comfortable than wigs. (Which I've also tried.) For anyone struggling I wish you nothing but the best, I know it seems hard to believe now but this does not define you. You are beautiful and worthy of love regardless of your looks.❤ Much love to this community.

I wasn’t sure whether to watch this video on hair loss if I would be able to handle it. 2 years after losing my hair to Leukemia (it started growing back normally at first) I started losing my hair, first the doctors thought it was alopecia areata but after trying lots of things I had to face that it was actually scarring alopecia so no irestore helmet ot anything is going to fix the spots where there are no hair follicles. Ok I’m tearing up writing this. I used to be one of those people who always had funky hair so losing this part of my identity has been challenging even though I’ve now been dealing with it for nearly 4 years I struggle majorly with depression and anxiety, and I already had mental health problems before cancer and then hair loss. I just spent over 6 weeks in a mental health hospital which I only came out of last weekend My parents today said they are going to splurge out and get a wig custom made for me which is going to cost thousands which I am so so so grateful for. But it’s not the same as having your own hair. Especially living in Australia where summers are hot and the last thing you want to do is wear a wig and putting a wig in a pony tail in day to day life doesn’t look quite right in my opinion. Anyway that’s why I started following you for skin care on my face as that seems to be the only thing on my body I can control . The skin on my body is brown and white patches. I have had to have 2 hip total replacements because of the medications I’m on and I have problems with my left leg. Oh and I lost a bit of my vision and this started early 30s…. BUT anyway going to the positive part I get now so many compliments on my face skin and how I look so much younger than I am which I thank you for, coz not only do I trust your opinions you also promote vegan and cruelty free brands which is important to me. I hope to find someone in a similar situation I can talk to, but I doubt that will happen 🦋🤎

I had alopecia areata when I was in my early/mid teens back in 2000/2001. I had two sizeable spots and one small one but the largest was on the top of my head near the front and was hard to keep covered. I don’t think anyone at school found out luckily but there wasn’t anything at the time (certainly for me) that could help bring my hair back. I was told I just had to wait and see what happens and try not to stress 😅 I was incredibly lucky and had it just for a couple of years and my hair grew back but a really different texture which was noticeable into my mid 20’s. I think about it all the time and how it can just decide to pop up again, maybe worse, seemingly with no obvious triggers to why it happened the first time. I would 100% buy the iRestore if it ever happened to me again

I am so sick of these animal abusers and ex-vegan-of-10-years grifters in the comments. If her vegan (plant-based) diet was the problem and somehow magically her blood work still came out good and her doctors have missed it, then WHY are the majority of people, who lose their hair, animal-eaters? I don't hear people telling them: "It must be your animal-based diet". No. To them, people just say to add more supplements or get treatments. Imagine, saying to someone who might have a form of alopecia: "It Is BeCauSe YoU doN't eaT carcaSSes!" while not telling to animal-eaters to switch to plant-based diet. I literally know people who lose their hair and ARE animal-eaters...but the excuse for them is never the diet, but something else.

I have lupus, my hair started falling in patches from that when it “woke up”. But I started on my methotrexate, a chemo drug, it rapidly started falling out. Even whenever I get stressed, it becomes so much worse.

I have had alopecia areata since i was like 18. Im now 27. Its stress related but it keeps growing back. I have done a good job at hiding, its mostly on the back of my head at my neck so my hair falls over it. But it is cold in the winterdays and it makes me selfconcious

Love when you're doing this hair loss awareness videos ❤ It's something I'm struggling whith since 2014 (when I was 14), and it only got worse, but because this topic is more popular this days, I'm feeling less alone 🥲, now my hair is doing a bit better, I had a trichotest and my dermatologist prescribed to me a personalized serum containing minoxidil, tretinoin, spironalactone and after almost 1y since I started it, I noticed new very thin hairs growing back on my scalp (of course I'm tracking this through pictures because my vision wouldn't allow me😅), also tried PRP and microneedling (1.1mm needles), now really thinking to start oral minoxidil and spironalactone to see if I will get better results than topically (I have no fear of facial hair😂)

I'm sure you can find a cheaper laser device that will help. As a nurse, I can say that you will see the best results as your kidney function improves and your protein intake can increase. You might try a supplement high in leucine when your neph says okay

I have very fine end not much hair, hole my live, my hair don’t grow just to my neck the hair break of in contact with my neck, end it is so thin en less that it is similar like toddlers who don’t have a first ✂️, I have like they cal it baby hair. My family have long hair nog fine. So it is not genetic, I tried everything end the last what I looked for was an operation ( like male who are bald they can do a operation that they have again hair there) so I want that, but it is not an option for my because in the tests it came out I have over my hole skull (where the hair is) inside not enough hair testikels, I never had, because in these operation they take hair testikels from another place en place it where the hair not grow, but I have over my hole skull not enough, popelen think I have a disease, but I have not I don’t have bald places, but it is so fine end less that you can see my skull a little bit. Notting works
