Hi, Nitty Thanks so much for your comment! Lining your rear dually(tire) with the front left cone is key to a successful parallel parking maneuver. Where the rear dually tire rests on the pavement, you will see slight bulge, from the weight of the vehicle, put that bulge parallel to the front left cone, sitting no more than 18 to 20 inches apart from it, then stop the rest is like clockwork. I'd really enjoy hearing how things go for you today., and if this method works for you. All the best for a successful test outcome! If the examiners allow you to get out to check your position, I highly recommend doing so!. You've got this! Therese😊

Theresa do you turn your wheels all the way to the right after aligning the rear tire with the cone. (at the beggining) on the transit bus. I'm taking my test Thursday on a transit bus.
@SchoolBusSass
6 жыл бұрын
Will you be doing blindside parallel parking or drivers side? If you’re blindside parallel parking, you will turn the wheel all the way to the right after aligning the rear dual with the front right cone. The pivot points on a transit, however, will be different. If you’re drivers side parallel parking, you will turn the wheel left after aligning the dual.

Hey I gotta a question What is the technique called that envolves parallel parking but NOT straightening the bus by curving it in but instead envolves turning toward the first cone and backing straight towards it (as close as possible ) and then turning the bus again until you see the next cone and repeating the procedure Well what I'm asking is what is the name of that parallel parking technique called?? And how is it done on a type C bus???

Hi Claudees, Safety is by far, number one! I am not sure where you are located, but in the district I drive for, we do not have other adults with us on the bus, unless we are driving a special needs route. So, unfortunately many of us do not have the option of having assistance while backing. Because of this, we need to be very vigilant when checking our mirrors and our surroundings before backing, taking every precaution beforehand, to safely complete any backing maneuver.

Even after following the instructions, my right rear duals were always way too close to the two back cones, and when I got out and checked, the bus was always angled to the left. What am I doing wrong here? I tried it almost 20 times today, and the same thing happened over and over.
@SchoolBusSass
2 жыл бұрын
D. Booth, Try getting out at each stopping point, to see where you trouble spot is. Sometimes making minor adjustments will be all you need to get back on track. If you final position is at an angle, you may need to refrain from straightening your wheel until the bus is parallel in the parking box. If you are too close to the rear cones of the parallel parking space, look to see if your rear duals, when next to the front right cones are adjacent to them and not too far behind the forward cones. Then, if that positioning is correct, when you are going back and the front cone just disappears from your service door, check your position there. You may need to start turning a hair sooner. Minor adjustments should help remedy the minor issues you are encountering. Try not to get frustrated. Sometimes, you can just have an off day. Hang in there, you can do this! :)
