Interesting and thought provoking Steve....it pays to be vigilant especially with potential insurance matters

Hell yes it does. I always assumed that either my insurance would cover me and/or the ABR event would have something in place. I still took the bike but instead of doing the trails I went for a ride with Nigel and a couple of mates into Stratford Upon Avon for a pub lunch. 👍
If you would like to support my channel so that I can continue to bring you great videos, why not buy me a coffee, it’s only £2 and it will go towards my fuel and other biking essentials, I may even give you a public shout out. buymeacoffee.com/701adventures www.youtube.com/@FortyFourTeeth/videos www.youtube.com/@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV www.youtube.com/@MotologyFilms
Thought provoking video. I will be honest and say I was aware of this on my bike insurance, as well as car insurance, as I had researched it a number of years ago for some events i had been involved with, but if it’s not something you are made aware of, you could be caught out.

I was obviously a bit naive as I thought I would be covered or alternatively something would be in place by the ABR organisers. I think the ABR organisers should make us aware of this in the terms and conditions prior to purchasing a trail ticket. 👍👍
When I do races held under ACU, IOPD etc by having a race licence you’re covered under their insurance (not for own bike damage) for public liability. Surely ABr is held under such a system? If not maybe get competition insurance, try bemoto. Prob get cover on an event by event basis.

Thanks for the info, I’ll get in touch with BeMoto and see what they say. 👍
A I've read the VNUK policies Steve were absolutely screwed as insurance goes and you may have to take extra policy out ,plus my insurance says claim as if the other person that hits you or knocks you off as an uninsured driver and claim that way .not sure if ragley hall are running an insurance policy themselves .
@701Adventures

Ragley Hall do not have a policy which covers us as riders. I rang my insurance company to see if I could purchase extra cover specifically for the event and they said NO. 👍

That’s appreciated thanks, sorry for the late response but there is virtually no phone signal within the ABR grounds. 👍

@@701Adventures no probs Steve.....have a great weekend .
I doubt any insurance company would cover you so they will be a lot of people in this situation, maybe all of them! I’ll still be on the trails as I have been since 2019. Go careful out there!

I don’t think any insurance company would provide cover for this type of event, if there is one out there maybe someone will leave a comment correcting me. Enjoy the trails, I’ll stick to the green lanes when I get back home. 👍
Re insurance on trackdays. Nothing new been like that for years. Interesting to see how that applies to ABR track - if that nullifies cover I bet ABR organisers will be really chuffed with him turning up and spreading the news 😂😂😂 I wonder if this is all covered on the disclaimer we all have to sign at booking in. I wonder if greenlaning is classed as “offroad activity” even though they are classed as roads? Can of worms I reckon. I’ll carry on in blissful ignorance. Will you be riding the track - I will ( I’ll look out and avoid you as you’re not insured 😂😂😂)
@701Adventures

😂😂 Yes I have no insurance, avoid me at all costs. The disclaimer frequently mentions all bikes must be road legal, insured etc and I don’t doubt all the bikes will be road legal but not for use on the man made track through the ABR grounds. Green lanes are a different ballgame as they are legal roads albeit not maintained by the local council. 👍

I don't get it. Surely if you have an off road motorcycle you would have insurance covering off road. Just go and do it

What are Green lanes ? Roads ? Are you saying your insurance doesn't covered off road ? If not , surely change insurance given you have an offroad bike
@701Adventures

@@nevillebroadbent1601 A green lane is what is legally defined as a B.O.A.T. Byway Open To All Traffic. A Byway is still legally classed as a road and my insurance covers me for riding green lanes however it would appear that insurance policies here in the UK appear to have an exclusion for an off road activity, i.e. trackdays, events such as the ABR, Enduro Pay & Play days etc, etc. 👍
Surely ABR has its own insurance policy in place, there’s no way something that big runs without being insured and it being on private land! But nice video and one to think about!

I thought the ABR might have something in place too, but no, they don’t. It’s basically down to us as riders and the majority of insurance policies will exclude this activity.
