@@LadyIarConnacht I know people get called stuff for saying this, but we really are living in a 1984 type world. It was a real prediction, not just a story (if you haven’t, read the book or watch the movie). Evil is good, love is hate, right is wrong, up is down, and 2+2=5. It would be laughed at as impossible nonsense in another time. Big brother exists in the form of family, coworkers and friends willing to denounce others. Segregation is advocated for again. We’d all be scoffing at the possibility, if it wasn’t so sadly and scarily true.

You not realizing that this video is the same commentary on today about anti-Blackness and appropriating Black culture is EXACTLY why we’ve come to this point of being more direct and explicit in the meaning of things. People have been trying to tell you in every different way for DECADES. Nothing else has worked so there’s literally no other way left to say it besides in absolutely no uncertain terms. This literal vid is direct racial commentary and you not seeing it because it was more gently delivered to you through satire.

There were 2 terms in the 90s for people like the guy portrayed in the song: “Wigga” and “Wanksta.” In fact, after Ja Rule came after 50 Cent over details of a robbery and wether or not 50 cent hung out with the robber at a club later, 50 Cent retaliated with the song “Wanksta,” dissing Ja Rule for trying to be hard core when he was really a phony (in 50 Cent’s perspective).

This was more common than you might think! I often think about how many black singers/bands were topping the lists in Europe on a regular basis back then. I'm from Scandinavia, and I grew up on Run DMC, LL Cool J, TLC, Salt n Pepa, 2pac, Coolio and the Fugees to name a few. I've watched some American reactors on KZread, and I don't think that's common knowledge?
