Yes, which is why I wish they would not end off with the patronising I'll-give-you-ten-minutes-to-think-of-a-reason-not-to cancel-your-visa routine. Has there ever, ever, ever been a case where the border authorities "consider" cancelling a visa and then change their minds after the person said something? I am betting no.

How was the guy with diseased leaves and other prohibited items not given a fine? I've seen a single mother with two small children who had a half-eaten hamburger in her handbag that she bought for her children at the airport of departure but then forgot about it, massively fined. That was an innocent mistake, but this guy was intentionally bringing in prohibited items in his luggage and lied on his declaration form, but he got away with it. Very sad that his arrogance and rudeness paid off.

That is ridiculous as the legal systems are completely different so of course he is not qualified in Australia. Paralegals are well paid in US because and if they know and rapidly create all the documents needed by the attorneys for court and litigation. The man identified as an "Aboriginal Jew" was a real trip. Another Kevin who presumes he has more rights than others, cutting in line, bringing in prohibited substances. "Protecting his people" ? That is a quote. Some folks, regardless of religion, have significant problems when dealing with life; hence the increasing number of Karens/Kevins that we must all deal with. However, this man decided to make religion as an issue. He is a very poor representative of an Aboriginal Jew, and should be ashamed of his behavior. The Border folks have a very tough job, and have utmost patience. That doesn't mean I agree with all their laws, but I must obey them when I visit Australia, or any country. I am surprised that some folks don't quite understand that.

You can be 1/48th Aboriginal (called indigenous because they don't like to be called aboriginal) and claim the status AND all the benefits, which there are MANY. But as far as I know, one of the benefits of being Aboriginal is not jumping a queue at the airport or anywhere else in the country. It's very much UNLIKE any other country where the indigenous people get preferential l treatment over all other citizens. But because their ancestors suffered, they get special treatment... because, ya know, no one else had ancestors that suffered in any other culture. 🙄

You have NO one to talk to or inquire with, and it's a very bad thing that embassies and consulate staff often don't pick up the phone or have enough staff to respond to phone calls, emails, whathaveyou. If you don't have some kind of online chat functionality or a phone number to consult, it is NO surprise that dopes like that man end up getting the wrong kind of document and don't find out till they've spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on a plane ticket and are physically at their destinations.
