Cathy Sierra | Global Program Manager

Cathy Sierra moved from Colombia to Canada about 12 years ago. After moving to Canada, the biggest challenge was to find a job as she didn't have Canadian working experience. She wanted to become a project manager instead of a programmer and so she got engaged in volunteer programs to gain Canadain experience. In this interview she talks about her journey from landing in Canada where she did not know English to the point where she went on to pursued a certification in Project Management from University of Toronto. She has been very successful in Canada and has also worked in various roles ranging from: Project Manager, IT Project Manager, Network & Security Project Manager and more recently Global Program Manager.
Her advise to recent immigrants to Canada - “Be willing to apply. Take advantages of the government resources and make connections"
