CATFISH on a POLE! 😱 Edge Monster Challenge With Andy May

Спорт

We sent Andy May on a mission to go out and catch a catfish on our all-singing and all-dancing Edge Monster pole to really put it to the test and see what it's capable of. As one of the hardest fighting fish in UK waters, tackle choice was nothing short of indestructible with size 8 hooks, 23 elastic, and 0.24 line. Would Andy be able to rise to the challenge?

Getting an 10" Edge Monster next week seems a little lumpy on the strike but certainly strong & for the price it's a good bit of kit for intermediate angler & I was surprised with the amount of stretch in the 23 dura elastic.

I've had this pole 2/3 years and it's brilliant, I've the extension that takes it to 10m, I've a flagship pole but only use it at longer lengths ,11m or longer This is fantastic for shorter lengths, great finish You can give it plenty of wellie and catch great big monsters ,cost me £179.99 ,two top kits If you ever want to buy a great margin pole that you can use as an all round pole get this. Very strong but not like a scaffold tube, Great video Andy, My hearing has finally come back😂.

Yeah I have the 8.5 m ,with extension, fishes to 10m, I just came second in a match with the monster pole 70lb of monsters with meat! Great pole , looks great and is as strong as a scaffold tube, but light at 10m I have a flagship pole, but use the edge monster as much Fantastic , I just added another top kit as these are well cheap, Red hydro in all three, had carp to 14lb easy on it. You can buy the 8.5m or 10 m package Best margin pole in my opinion.

Great video as always but the pole name confuses me. Is it because it gives you the edge rather than fishing down the edge? Or is the 10 metre version to fish down the opposite edge?

Can’t understand the obsession with these poxy things. Illegally stocked in many waters, destroy the silver fishing and eat carp. Our club waters witch are cat and pike free have had them illegally stocked by a moron. When caught they will be removed and destroyed and if they catch who did it he will be banned and his name given to other local clubs. There are several local waters that have them, but not match lakes.

I don't know where you get your ideas from, I fish two waters with Catfish in. Still plenty of silvers and Carp of all sizes in them. Cats in stillwaters are much happier to eat boilies and pellets. Chasing fish burns too much energy when there is plenty of free stationary food around. Cats in rivers maybe different as they burn more energy. Most Cats introduced into British waters are breed on fish farms and their 'natural food' is a fisheries pellet like Coppens. You remind me of all the anglers at my club who told me "you won't catch any Pike in here, all the Cats ate them". Two days later I lure fished that lake and caught 8 Pike in an afternoon, including a new lure PB for me. It's funny. Because almost every European stillwater and river has Cats in them and yet they are not fishless deserts. In fact people travel to France and Spain to fish for big Carp in those waters filled with Cats. People said the same things about Zander and now no one is worried about them. Wels Catfish are native to European rivers and waters and they end up in balance with the others species. Like most predators Cats have short feeding spells and spend much of their time being dormant especially in British waters. Cats, like big Pike prefer expending as little energy as possible for maximum energy gain. It does not take much energy to 'chase' hali pellets and boilies.

You need predators to keep a good balance in lakes other wise you get over run by small fish only

  • @robertedmunds2394

I disagree, yes we need predators, most commercial waters have perch and Chubb and some have pike. Where I fish in kent there are two large commercial fisheries one has 10 lakes, 3 are match/ general corse fishing and great for the pole. All the others are full of big carp or cats, some have both so ideal for those who want to fish for them. The other has 4 match lakes which are used for fish-o- mania, and several lakes which include cats and big carp. There are waters near us including the river Medway which have been illegally stocked which can’t be right with a fish not native to the UK. As I understand these should be removed and destroyed. I don’t like killing fish, I won’t even live bait but rules broken by selfish people should mean prosecute

@@robertedmunds2394 If you really want to get picky, you can remove all the carp then! They are not indigenous in our waters, having been introduced long ago as a food source. How long is it before an introduced species become naturalized? Even as far back as Roman times is a mere millisecond in terms of the age of our natural fauna. I don't agree with picking on carp as you are doing with catfish. And what about rainbow trout? Mainland France is 20 odd miles from us at the nearest point, and catfish exist naturally in their big rivers. Can you say for sure that they haven't been in our big rivers all the time as sturgeon have?
