Love watching these videos. Just wondering, would it be possible to have a clamp on steel plate, front and back, into which you could inject molten rubber? You could place steel or kevlar matting to overlap the existing sidewall structure, then inject above and below through the steel clamped structure (thinking like a large sandwich press). Surely this would be stronger than multiple small pieces of thin rubber? And potentially a lot cheaper for nations of lesser income..?? Obviously I know very little about vulcanising, so this is meant as a question, and not a distraction from the works performed here.
I have done similar repairs myself long time ago when I was working in a tire shop. I could use commercial patches inside and didn't have to make a patch from a piece of a tire like that guy. And we used an electric heater designed for that.

I hate the part replacers in USA, and they call themselves mechanics. I had a nail barely on the side, they wouldn't patch it and offer me to sell a new tire almost $50 dollars more than I paid on amazon. That infuriates me even further so, I take it to an Asian, he does it and don't even charge me. Funny thing is, I don't even remember which tire it was now and its been well over 2 years.

That tyres a disaster waiting to happen. I worked in a remould truck tyre business and if the side wall is that badly damaged it is scraped straight away. The steel wire in the side wall is what gives the tyre its strength. If that blows while someone is next to it they will be killed
With a good portion of the strength of the side wall removed it would be interesting see how long that patch will last.
