Catching Stud Pelagic Fish from Florida Pier
Ойын-сауық
In the spring time while fishing the pier there are many opportunities to sight-cast or sight-fish some pelagic pier fish. I throw lures such as diamond jigs, topwater lures, or large swimming plugs like a rapala X-rap with the hope of enticing one of these hard fighting pier fish. This video features multiple species and some awesome pier fishing action. Watch me try to sight cast to some HUGE Jack Crevalle and even land a pier kingfish.

15:55 that’s why they call them “Flip-flops” lol. Cool video!
The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight kzread.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!
By far my favorite videos to watch, tight lines brother keep it up with the great videos.
Love these pier vids. That hammerhead footage is sick!
You just keep killing it in your videos! Tight lines brother! Stay safe out there.
Really liking the longer uploads!
The quality on these videos are amazing!!!
So sick man. I've been binging your videos lately as inspiration for my own... your editing/filming is next level and really stands out from the rest of the crowd. Would love to get the chance to fish with ya one day! Keep it up dude
Ryan I watched this vid over 20times cause its soooo good🔥🔥🔥🔥
Reminds me of california pier fishing... Countless hours of grinding waiting for days like these
Your boy is an animal on that gaff!! That color (of the plug on the thumbnail) is in my opinion the best color scheme ever made by any company. I have caught Wahoo to Walleye on that thing. Pure fire 🔥

I got to try this sometime, I've seen you and Viktors videos! Y'all make it look really awesome! Made my first trip to the keys back in February and saw several of those bridges I recognize from your videos. Keep it up. Tight lines
Love your videos and would love them more if you gave us an idea on the rod (length, lure ounce rating) and reel size you used. Don’t have to mention brands as we each have our favorites but just an idea .

Hey Ryan, Some people swap their trebles for in line singles, as they apparently hook up better, I haven’t swapped them but I know for sure I have horrible luck with trebles, so there may be some merit to that.
Ay lost, dhat but size 6cm end Chen faind green 💚 🍏 it's wery good 👍
I feel like if u throw out some jack chunks u can chum the sharks up to get some nice cobia 😄😳
Have you ever tried a PVC bridge gaff, they work great!
Ryan what are your favorite days to go fishing at the pier so there’s not a lot of people at the T?
Keep fishing at Juno pier lol 💥💥💥💥
As my favorite fishing KZreadr that I know won’t be bias on reel suggestions, what spinning reel would you recommend in the 5000-6000 class(based on diawa/penn sizing) the plan is dock fishing for snook and tarpon in key largo, and then drifting livebait off the bridges in the keys. My price point is 500$ cap, so the obvious answer of a van stall or Stella is out of the picture. I’ve had my eye on either a Saragossa, the saltist or the tsunami SaltX. Any and all input would be appreciated
Would you recommend swapping out the inline hooks for treble on the x-rap 12 long cast?
man I can't wait until I'm able to move to Florida it's perfect
Great video as always, just curious what pound leader you are using when you are throwing the xrap for kingfish?

what camera are you using too record yourself with bro? I know you’ve got the go pro but idk what the other one was?

Ryan, what kind of reel and rod where you using to catch the big jack?
If I wana use a fluorocarbon leader for king fish wat lb test u recommend?? With lures
Ryan do you ever use pro cure or any other scent on your lures when the fish seem to want live bait and you don't have live bait at hand?
@jamesh7469

I don’t know if Ryan uses it, but I can guarantee it definitely makes a difference particularly with more smell-based predators like redfish. It’s not super useful for stuff like mackerel or fast swimming pelagics
What's a good rod and reel that type of fishing
12:20 GGGYYYYAAAATTT
I have not caught one species's here in the northeast with that lure
Hi Ryan, were you using a wire leader to the x rap ?
What Xrap was that the magnum and what depth? Or a long cast?
What pound test braid and leader do you guys run?
Idk if I missed it but what lb test did you use
Ryan, you mentioned “you feel all the head shakes on the 10ft” What’s the reel size, line, and rod length/action you rec for pier setup? Anyone else please feel free to pitch it. Twice a year jetty/surf angler here for vacation. Never tried a pier!

Good bang for buck rod with good components I'd recommend a phenix rods m1 inshore med heavy or heavy about 8ft length
@SarduakarElite
2 жыл бұрын
If you can’t find a Phenix, a 8ft heavy or XH Teramar or Star Rod is a staple choice. Many pier rats where Ryan is fishing use custom built 9fters with fiberglass or blende blanks, but those will set you back ~500 or so.
What rod and reel is that

You seriously owe it to yourself to check out the ZeeBaaS ZX-27! 80% manufactured(Bearings sourced from China out of necessity) and 100% assembled in Stratford, CT. by Ron DiCostanzo and Northeast fishing legend John Posh, BEFORE you buy another Van Staal. I am not uncertain that you of all people, will NOT be disappointed. 😉

@@RyanMorie lol No, I make tape for the 3M Corp but I hammer the fish every chance I get. Although I live in Mass. I'm from Connecticut and have been fishing saltwater since the 70s. I was a huge Van Staal fiend for a long time but like you, never liked the drag and for that much money?! The drag should be smooth as silk! It's an $850. plus reel! As a high(est)-end Saltwater reel, how is that not the first thing they would engineer to perfection, even before making it waterproof? and the slow crank! and the crappy customer service?! WTF am I paying for besides being waterproof, which really isn't the end all of reel tech, it's just nice not having to clean and service it so much. Myself? I'd rather have a smooth-er drag. It's jerky and inconsistent and nobody seems to care or complain! (expect your spot-on review!) I'm not saying trash the Van Staals and go buy ZeeBaaS reels, I'm saying the NEXT time you're shopping for a waterproof reel, check out ZeeBaaS. They actually run about $150. more than a comparable Van Staal but once you've put yourself on the elevator to spring $850. for a fishing reel, if we're being honest? What's another $150. at that point to get EXACTLY what we expected from Van Staal but never got? Great videos, keep up the good work and Tight Lines!
