Catalinbread SFT: Guitar Demo

Музыка

www.catalinbread.com/product/sft/
Introducing our new Catalinbread SFT! The newly redesigned SFT is our Ampeg flavored foundation overdrive, providing late '60s - '70s Stones-inspired tones with the addition of the modern Stoner influenced sounds via the new STONES/STONER switch. In this video, the SFT moves between clear, jangly, clean tone to toxic sludge! Howard plays a Stratocaster, Telecaster, Flying V and Les Paul, all through the SFT to give you an idea of how expressive and responsive the SFT is. All guitar and bass overdubs are run through the SFT!
New SFT Features:
Baxandall tone stack: an elegantly simple yet powerful design that allows shaping of treble, mid range and bass frequencies utilizing only two controls.
Volume and Gain controls: capable of boosting an amp into overdrive, or providing “big amp” sounds at lower volumes.
STONES/STONER mode switch: select between classic 60s AMPEG and modern high gain sounds.
9V battery or DC power supply for use from 9-18VDC: 9v operation yields smoother compression and a softer feel. Powering at 18v allows for more headroom and a more percussive attack.

Don't buy this pedal, it's impossible to stop playing after you try it and it's very frustrating that this thing sounds too good at any settings so you don't know wich setting use first, and then when you stack it with other overdrives and fuzzes the situation becomes even worst, because those conbinations sounds also unbeliveble...hehe, this thing ended my dirt pedal quest, ah, what a relief! Thank you catalinbread!!!

I second your remark! In fact, all their Foundation Overdrive pedals deliver. BIG TIME. It's nearly impossible to stop playing because it sounds so Fn good. RAH, DLS Red, Sabbra, Naga Viper. Any combo played through my SG, Les Paul, Strat, or ASAT Tribute is, well, 🤯🤯🤯

The strat / neck clip finally sold me on the pedal. Exactly the hard-edged overdrive I'm looking for on my jazzmaster with flats. All of the stones/qotsa in demo's made the pedal (and the ampeg in general) sound very bright and fizzy.

I was wondering if a comparison of the 2016 next to the last version would be something you guys are considering doing. Wouldn't have to be a long video, just a "hey, here's how they're different" kinda thing.

I love the idea and the stones/stoner pun! Well done. I also love the fact that you didn't include any QOTSA riffs (even though I guess many guitarists know Homme used VT40s a lot & recorded them in the first 3 QOTSA albums). An idea for the future SFT video is to include Wipers songs, since Greg Sage was also a famous user in songs like Over the Edge etc).

Very cool! I just realised that they came from Portland and you guys are based in Portland, right? The slightly Hiwatt-y high end distorted sizzle can be heard in many Wipers songs. You can see his Ampeg in two photos: the cover of the Wipers 3 CD box set (img12.nnm.me/a/d/a/c/0/756d6504d27ea33c07d3a6d6b75.jpg) and on the Live 1984 LP (1.bp.blogspot.com/_1FfeEq4IS8I/SR3WpiPHSnI/AAAAAAAACkA/M6b_zuY7y58/s400/1.jpg). Hi so I bought this pedal last April. Love the sound but there is one main downfall. When I'm turning the volume up of my amp or adding gain on the pedal, there is a continuous 'hum'. I've tried different amps and I have humbucker pickups. Also I power my pedal with a 9V battery. Do you people at Catalinbread know how to solve this problem?

  • @arthurbehrman5130

Hey! what amp/amps are being used? Looks like a fender classic reissue of some sort. Amp choice and rough settings are important when demoing a product that emulates a particular amp. Or am I wrong? I love you guys.

+Howard Gee (kittycaster) Thanks for the reply. I'm looking forwrd to the bass demo. Hopefully you will use some sort of mid quality hybrid rig. I want to know if this will boost the headroom and overall dynamic range of my Orange BT500 that I play thru the matching Orange SP212. My current fave bass rig is a 70's V4 thru that 212 but I try and save it for recording because its a back breaker.
