Ойындар

I review the 4 units we have to use as Batteline units for Imperial Guard in Warhammer 40,000 10th edition. I review their points, rule abilities and generally how to use them on the tabletop.

One of the cool things with Creed and a 20-man infanty is that you get 2 Vox casters, which give you 2d6 to roll the 4+ for an extra CP.

Haven't watched the whole video yet but as a tread head catachans are the only infantry for me. Can never have too many boots on the ground

Don't forget that the Cadian upgrade spue can be used to create Krieger's. Check the description on GW's page. Kinda nice if you've already got a bunch of cadians.

I use the catachan for dying first and maby flamming some enemy explorers, they do nothing and die as fast as you think, with or without strakens. But the thing is using the basic infantry with mortars and heavy weapons with lascanons, most of the enemies want them out because of the 4+ overwatch near the infantry. (Whoever saw them shoot they didn't even care about em neither, but for the one day trick is ok). Anyway the small taktik maps we play is a nightmare for infantry, quite an irony, you need to put heavy tanks and meks in the streets.

34:55 Only problem with attaching a command squad is that you then unfortunately lose the Scout 6" for the whole unit. I've found Straken + Harker attached to 20 Catachans to be pretty effective, Harker granting Stealth is pretty significant

sure, but then if you also attach Harker to the same unit, you have an HQ section that is -1 to hit. Add a powerfist, flamer, a heavy flamer, a chainsword, and a master vox, and you have a unit that is dangerous to deepstrike against, comparitively cheap compared to other equivalent HQ sections from other regiments, and isn't afraid to move around and be aggressive if necessary. Of course, it is lacking in shooting power, but for a CnC unit, that isn't really the point either. Command Squads in Catachan units shouldn't be overlooked.

Ive had quite a bit of success with a 20 man infantry squad, 2 mortars and two flamers, command squad with medic, standard, vox and flamer, plus psyker. Sit them on my home objective all game and drop the mortar shots in as needed. They are very hard to remove, even more so if you drop an ogryn Bodyguard in there too. Tried it once or twice with regimental advisers but didnt find them worth the points.

The officer of the fleet is useful for taking the first bullet that flies towards the squad though!

It is arguably the most complex way to play, but in what I like to call the Cadian Assault Platoon, which consists of a 20 man section of shock troops with plasma and melta, a command squad with double plasma, both officers from the Command Squad and Castellan with plasma pistols and power fists, and an ogryn bodyguard, you have a very potent (albeit expensive) assault unit with the ability to take and hold objectives with a lot of shooting, a fair amount of melee attacks, and the ability to keep the objective while fighting on favorable terms. In addition, because the model count is so high, you have to lose almost a squad and a halve before rolling for Battle Shock tests. Even if you do become battle shocked, as long as there is an officer attached, you cannot become OC 0 due to "Cadia Stands." If you bring three copies of this. you are basically bringing the equivalent of 120 infantry in wound count. Now, provided you aren't fighting world eaters, custodes, or similar, the trick is this: -move to objective/shoot enemy on point -charge and fight with ogryns and power fists -atrit lasguns through fight phase in your and opponent's turn -fall back and shoot -repeat as necessary It's a very technically complex tactic that requires good positioning, planning, and supporting elements, but one that can work very well if done correctly. Frankly, most people don't expect it to hit as hard as it does and don't have a plan for it, other than hope you can shoot them first.

Disclaimer, I watch CSS's and MG's video and am an infantry guard player. I only own Three Leman Russes and Three Scout Sentinels, I would make most tread heads cringe. For my lists i've always got 1-2 units of Catachan for the scout move, they're great cannon fodder if nothing else. However, I think the best way to compare the infantry of the guard is not just by looking at their own capabilities, but by the units that can lead them. I think I greatly value the Cadian Shock Troops purely for the fact that they can be lead by the Cadian Command Sqaud, whose ability Cadia Stands is just fantastic. Being able to hold points even when battlshocked is a game changer. Krieg are pricier, but are a great unit. What I found underwhelming about them though is that their value comes from scenarios in which they are weakened. Guard are squishy, so its entirely plausible that even with a Death Korps Marshal giving them 5+ FNP (which is incredible!) they might get swept off the table too quickly. To make them count, you need to put them in your second wave I think, once the enmy has suffered some attrition they'll be more capable of living long enough to take advantage of their fantasic abilities. The infantry Squads can benefit from Castellans, as can Shock Troops, which allow them to dish out more damage than you might think thanks to the sustained fire the Castellan gives them, and it never hurts to have more leaders armed with Power Fists leading your regiment units. I find Power Fists to be an excellent tool to help hold objectives, and Cadian shock troops allow you to take Three more command squads each with Two Power Fists, and thats another selling point for me. Infantry Squads bring Autocannons, which have been the MVP in my games, but like you say they can also bring Mortars which are always useful too.

Worth noting Creed and the vox essentially becomes a CP farm as you don't have to spend CP to trigger the wargear ability just target with a strat.

25mm bases. I fall into the minimum 120 dudes when playing guard if I am not playing a mechanized or armored force.

A big benefit of the Cadian's ability is that it keeps the objective under your control even if they get shot and killed or battleshocked. The opponent has to actually put guys on the objective to take it away from you. Given how fragile Guardsmen are, the utility of this should be obvious. Another more minor benefit for the Guard is that it lets you not tie up a unit holding an out of the way objective, but it's not a big deal for the Guard to have a squad sitting back and especially when you can have an infantry squad with a mortar doing it. The infantry squad is pretty much model agnostic. I'd consider them all to be model agnostic really, but an official event might disagree.

I think its a trap comparing the stats of the troop datasheets, ypu need to compare with leaders. For instance - shock troops are the worst imo, but add in a HQ team and they become A+

Yeah good point. However you don't always run them with command squads. Ie you wouldn't be taking 6 cadian squads all with command squads?

I think that all battlelines are just overpriced for what they can do. If we look at competitive lists that did well in tournaments we don't see too much infantry. We see some catachans, but nothing more. Officers are also too expensive considering that they can't return with Reinforcements. It's sad because I like infantry, but if I want to have more chances in the game I need to take Bullgryns instead of battlelines.
