    One thing to note is that sentinels are both regiment and squadron, so they get lethal hits against all targets lol

    Great point and I realised that after I uploaded rhe video. Definitely gives them a new lease on life. Maybe Sentinel spam is back?

    @@GuardsmanHanan maybe! With reinforcements going to once per game a big unit of sentinels would be high on my resurrection priority list for sure.

    3 Chimera with 3 Ogryn squads Each Chimera while 10" moving Two Ogryn ripper guns 12 shots Multi laser 4 Laser gun array 12 Heavy bolters 3 Hunter killer 1 (one shot) Solar orders first rank fire in all three +6 ripper and + 3 Las array Can drop one shot back to get heavy bolters on turret for extra ap and damage So call it about 102 lethal shots Reroll 1's sentinal Fof further -1 AP Ripper Guns and Heavy bolter -1 AP D2 (48 shots) Executioner -1 AP Can fire while in engagement big guns never tire Followed by T9 9 attack tank shock

    I think ogryn are a hidden gem, shame I've got 8 bullgyrn made up! A watch out is that they don't get lethal hits as they are neither regiment or squadron keyword units

    In the Chimera I think they may get the Lethal hits as Firing Deck adds the weapon profile to the Chimeras weapons. So it'll get the lethal hits against other 'squadron' units​@GuardsmanHanan

    @NP-si8lt ah okay, that's a great one if it checks out. I'm not sure how firing deck weapons are affected by the vehciels rules, well worth some digging!

    The pivot thing is great, because, say, with a move and run you get a total of 19" movement, you can pivot some wild amount of times, as long as the total distance you move does not exceed 17". I could pivot that tank 47 times along that 17" route if I so needed to. This new rule makes moving very clear and easy to deal with now.

    Agreed, I'd also say it was greating benefit to larger vehicles then smaller ones.

    The only 2 positives I can find is the change born soldiers and that EVERYONE ELSE'S artillery got worse too. That being said nobody else relies quite as heavily on artillery as we do

    I think its a bit mixed, reinforce spam going is sad but lethals are now so much easier and theyll also work on things like overwatch and creed can be used for grenades. Ups and downs for guard with this update.

    Makes guard infantry so mobile. Big buff Before we either stayed still and got lethal and some effective fire with las guns or move and no effective fire Now we get both effective fire and move

    Just lean into Scions. No one cares if you proxy. They're crazy good into marine equivalents and elite infantry.

    The problem with the new regiment rule is that there are regiment units designed to attack vehicles and monsters, and squadron units designed to attack infantry. The rule assumes that a thing always attacks a thing of the same type while we have the Russ Punisher and Heavy Lascannons in our roster, and it gives no benefit at all to artillery and tank commanders etc. I do think it's interesting to consider less popular weapon options like hellblaster volleyguns but there's now a big reason to avoid some units that now clash with their army special rule, like the aforementioned Russ Punisher. It's a weird one! Sentinels got a big boost though, and my interest in running a full armored sentinel squadron with autocannons is growing.

    Yeah agreed, if it were lethal hits full stop that would have been mega. Or even just lethal hits if you can see the target. Limiting the unit type means alot of units have no army rule or in certain scenarios no rule at all....

    Might see regimental attaches now a bit more as indirect artillery loses the lethal buff it can gain sustained hits buff The Astropath 12" reinforcements denial is nice (Flying guy is still just an extra wound)

    Yeah good point on attaches. 12" deepstike denial can be excellent in some match ups. I reckon indirect will actually be okay if its used into infantry targets

    I'd wish they gave us a choice for lethal hits at the start of the battle round or something, like your regiment+squadron units get lethals against Monster/Vehicles or everything thats not Monster/Vehicle. Its a shame that Super Heavies are again ignored and get no detachment rules, i love my Shadowsword and Banesword.

    Great idea, alot of other armies have that choice to make and would have been an easy fit for Guard. I'd say our army doctrine overall is pretty weak given numerous units essentially have no army rule now. When we think about other stronger armies, their army rule benefits all units. And the weaker armies often have rules that only benefit some units....

    Callidus and aquila enhancement can zone a lot of the board with the +1 CP TO stratagems

    Perhaps an exemption to this incredible indirect nerf would be allowing Guard artillery to hit on 3s, since artillery is meant to be one of the things Guard is great at Hitting on 2s is insane, hitting on 4s is meh, hitting on 3s seems perfectly reasonable imo

    That would have been a good approach. the idea of a scout sentinel calling in accurate fire is very thematic (and realistic). Whilst artillery will never be as accurate as an Adeptus Custodes, having it hitting on 3's would have felt reasonable

    Yeah agreed, I reckon they could have 'fixed' Guard by just saying the reinforcement strat only works on battleline. Reinforcing Catachans or Cadians doesn't feel as over-powered as brining in Kasrkin or 10 Rough Riders

    Reading through the Indirect Fire rule the automatic miss on a roll of a 1, 2, or 3 is explained in the penalties paragraph. When you look at the Daring Recon ability of the Scout Sentinel it removes the penalty for the Indirect Fire weapon ability. If it removed the benefit of Cover and the -1 to hit previously there is nothing saying the auto miss wouldn't get included in the "penalty." Somebody red team this for me.

    The Recon Ability doesn't remove the benefit of Cover gained by the Indirect fire rule, it only removes the "penalty to the Hit roll", that is the -1 only.

    I think Artillery will be fine in the end. FoBs and Basilisks will still be doing chip damage without much assistance now. Shame Mortars got hit the hardest though. Reinforcements could be limited to 1 use per 1k points and I think it would fit better for all parties with those. I think they finally need to give Baneblades Squadron. Also I think everyone I see about tank commanders not getting Lethals are overreacting.

    Sorry just reading this now. Having played a few games with new ruleset I think we are fine overall. Lethal on squadron into vehicles is great and likewise regiment into infantry. Match up dependant of course but has helped me alot. Sentinels don't seem to be what I had hoped but with only one shooter they never would be. Didn't even think about TCs although as you say, they will be fine given they have a demolisher cannon which doesn't really need lethal anyway

    It's a solid Nerf ... Unless a tread head ( Tanks ) A good opponent will not take all 3 sentinels out , They will leave 1 heavily damaged so you can't reinforce with them

    How so? Are you talking about Leman Russ and Rogal Dorns that are toughness 11 and 12 (vs strength 7)?

    @GuardsmanHanan yeah it helped to equalize tank shocks across the game. Also now sentinels may be a little worse into infantry but I feel better into all targets. I see it as a flat buff for the guard overall

    Agree, most of our vehicles have higher toughness than strength so more dice for us.

    I think it was a mistake to not keep the movement simple. Just take pivot out and let the players move their pieces.

    Why do you think the Scout Sentinels won't help artillery? Daring Recon rerolls hit rolls of a 1 and it states units with the Indirect Fire ability do not suffer the penalty for that ability.

    This is going to cause alot of debate. Reroll 1s still works just like the Manticores full rerolls however the penalty to indirect is the -1 to hit. The unmodified hits of 1,2,3 not hitting is a separate part of the rule and being unmodified means it can't hit. They should have rewritten the scout Sentinel ability. I'd guess most tournament organisers would rule 1,2,3 don't hit but there will significant debate here

    @@GuardsmanHanan to me it’s just a extension of the basic core shooting rule of a “one always misses” nothing gets around that. I know in our arty a one plus is impossible but to interpret it as a possibly ignored “penalty” would mean a one could theoretically be a hit.

    Squads of 3x sentinels brought on from reserves maybe another way of getting ‘like’ indirect fire as they get lethal hits on infantry and vehicles? Plus 2CP brings them back?!

    Yes sir! Have 3x Armored sentinels as early game pressure. Lethal hits plus they get re-roll wounds into monster/vehicles so good chance of giving a big target a proper tickle. They get destroyed and then reinforced, cash money!!!!!!
