My indoor cat, Milo, acts like this whenever he sees his GF cat that comes by the house to visit through the window - I call her "Pretty Kitty" but my boy has absolutely no chill whenever it comes to the ladies. It's embarrassing.

Facts

Just a general advice when introducing two cats to each other, they really should be separated and get used to each other’s scent before any physical interaction takes place. Switch blankets, toys between them. Wipe each cat with a cloth and leave it with the other cat. Etc. It really takes time sometimes for two cats to get along. Especially as the resident cat will see the new comer as an intruder ,(female cats are also generally more territorial of their homes than male cats.) if one just let them out together right away. First impressions are pretty crucial to most cats and if a fight occurs, the chances of them getting along will be postponed. Take time when introducing cats, and make sure both are safe and have their own private spaces (free of the other cat) to retreat to. Of course each cat is unique as you and me, so pay attention to the cats’ personalities and individual traits and needs. This is just a friendly, general reminder and advices. 😻😻

@@headbangingmama8907 Yes, definitely! Basically my whole family are crazy cat people 😹, so I have seen cats getting along/used to one another anywhere from just 9 days, to a couple of months. Some cats will bond and be bff’s, other cats may just tolerate each other. Each of them are different, and it’s not a given that just because they both happen to be cats, easy peasy let them out together and they will be friends from day one. No, keep them separated at first, and take things slow, give them time to get used to the other unknown cat. Cats are not pack animals, but surprisingly adjustable, but time and patience are so important.

Cats take time to become friends, ESPECIALLY if one of them is a kitten! Adult cats usually don’t want to interact with a random kittens because nobody wants an angry mom coming after them lol The adult cat’s harsh reaction is perfectly natural and part of their instincts.

It's also much harder to get female cats to accept another cat, especially a kitten, than a male does. Male cats are a bit more accepting and mellow. I'm 72 now and have had cats/kittens since I was 6, had a dog starting in my teens. I also worked for veterinarians for years so that's what I've learned. Also a dog, especially larger breeds for some reason, love kittens and cats as buddies, even more than a dog buddy sometimes if they are fearful. 😊

@@candace3124 Lines up perfectly with my own experience. I have a male cat rn who I joke is my “momma cat” because he LOVES kittens and treats them like a mother cat! Had to introduce him to my second kitten almost immediately because he was hurting his face trying to get under the door to go comfort her. He entered, stayed right at the door, rolled to show his belly and just slow blinked at her until she fully approached and cuddled him. He stayed dead still for over thirty minutes and I’m pretty sure he realized she was deaf before any of us humans did. Tried properly introducing the second kitten by taking my time with the greeting, too, but he did the same routine shoving his face under to let out friendly trills of reassurance! Always had to slow introduce cats before adopting him. Never had a cat like that but haven’t had many males before him!

​@diobrando_2.02 I've had such a weird experience with my boy. His first interaction was with my moms cat who did NOT like him. She'd hiss and spit and run and when she ran he'd think she was trying to play chase and he'd get clawed pretty good and it was a mess. Moved out pretty soon after and in with a friend who also had a cat, another girl. This time my boy walked straight up to her, sat down with his ears forward and tail wrapped around his paws, slow blinked and very politely hissed at her. Like literally his entire body language and the distance he gave her and everything screamed "cat trying to be polite to a new friend" and then he freaking hisses at her. So of course she hissed back and ran off and it was a completely different disaster for like 2 months until my friends cat figured out that vocal language apparently means nothing with my boy. I genuinely think because the only other cat he'd ever met hissed at him so much he thought that was a polite thing to do in cat speak XD. He is now an only cat but we might have a friend moving in with us and he's bringing his cat. So we'll see how it goes, it is a boy so maybe they'll just get along this time XD. Your boy sounds so sweet. I wonder if maybe the way the first kitten meowed somehow tipped him off to her being deaf and he was just "I HEAR PROBLEM I FIX PROBLEM LET ME IIIIIIIIIIN"

@@kitcat-xn1mn haha, I bet exactly! Your cat sounds so similar to my boy lol! Our deaf cat does have a really unique meow so he might have noticed right away, I never thought about it. Me and my bf first assumed her deafness was her learning from being in a shelter that 1. She needs to yell to be heard and 2. Doesn’t recognize human speech as directed at her unless they’re face to face with her. Even the shelter didn’t know she was deaf. Thought it was a trauma thing until I was vacuuming, accidentally hit her with the vacuum while she napped under the couch, and she just… went back to bed. She had no idea I was vacuuming and it didn’t bother her at all. That’s when us humans realized lol but the cats definitely knew sooner so I think you’re right

My cats all came running when they heard that hissing and growling. My ex-stray went straight to the back window, he is so nosey man.

Similar happened to me. I had to give the cat away to my neighbor, which the cat very much loved. Now that neighbor constantly cooks food for us as a thanks cause she in love with the cat. Win-win situation lol

Our cat is about 17 years old, she hates other cats. She does not mind dogs. We have a new cat that lives downstairs that only comes into the kitchen when we are in there with the gate up. Our first cat never minds the scent but hates seeing her.

This is exactly what happened with my two Russian Blues! The older one *hated* the kitten, would growl at it and hiss at it every time they were in the same room. A month later and they're inseperable, constantly causing trouble in the house 😅

Cats can deliver a hair raising scream when pissed and while a bit unnerving, it can be funny....🤣🤣🤣🤣🐾🐾

Try making them eat together it’s how I got my adult cat to adjust to a new kitten and after a few months they’re super close

Relaxed about the new kitty by day three is pretty rare. Not that I'm an expert. Just an observation that I got from watching quite a few videos. Glad things worked out pretty quickly.

When I found our my first kitty who's cry all night after I left for work (condo neighbors could hear her in the hallway) the vet advised I get a kitty companion. So, I adopted another kitten. Took a couple of months to introduce them. I had both for 17 years, and they never really got along. Barely tolerated eachother, at best. But both were well loved and snuggled!

Jackson Galaxy has a technique where feeding time is always on opposite sides of a door where they can smell each other on the other side. It builds up positive associations between the other cat and food.

Cat on the first day: "i will end you, ball of fluff" Cat a month later: "where's my cuddle buddy" 😂 I had a girl cat and u brought home a baby boy because i wanted her to have kittens. She was not mean to him, but she wouldn't come out from underneath my bed for three whole days. I felt bad, so i let my brother have the kitten. That way they'd still be in the same house, but not always in the same room. But they never mated and both would spray the house during their heart periods. I ended up having to get them both fixed to stop this. Years later i brought home a baby girl kitten. My cat took to her like a mother immediately 🥰 and they never separated until years later when my older one passed away 😢

My oldest took about a week to get used to his baby sisters but the younger of my boys took weeks to warm up to them. They’re best buddies now!

Anytime I've had multiple cats, it took like 3 days before I catch them snuggling. Initially it was like I will never be your friend lol, everytime

When I first got my second cat, a kitten born to a stray I'd got from a shelter, I knew it might not work out and she had a second home planned just in case. Because my older cat was sold on Gumtree because he was aggressive to their other cats. I got some feliway a few weeks before bringing her home, and had her a room that she'd live in alone. It took about three months to get them to love each other. I brought her out in a carrier for my other cat to sniff, and let him explore her room alone too. I also made sure to shower my first kitty with plenty of love and not evenly split it between them, the last thing you want is for your first cat to feel replaced. Now he's nine and she's two, they're best buddies, groom each other, play chase and my older cat even jibs me off to snuggle with her instead of me!

They get along in time - there’s instructions on the internet - takes a week or two - I work with a rescue - just give them time

I love the way cats ingratiate themselves to each other. My son leant me his tuxedo cat after my beloved 18 yr old passed. He wintered with me and ended my mouse problem without one drop of blood. Killed by exhaustion I think…. We got a rescue blue-eyed, honey seal point Burmese (?) we think. The two made brrrrrrrp noises back and forth under the door instantly…. no hissing, so we let them mingle. It was mostly fine. Tuxedo cat was a star, just wanted a friend, Burmese was just starting to loosen up when Tux had to leave. I’m so in love with Tux, and Burma was a bit bitey scratchy at first. We have settled in now, but poor Tux howls every night and has begun making statement poos (or my son is claiming it was the cat) on my son’s trousers. Now there’s talk of swapsies… because they _adore_ Burma, but I want them both now. Burma likes outdoor adventure. He sits on the front of my bike, we have ordered tiny goggles from Etsy and I’m knitting a blue turtleneck to match his eyes. But oh how I miss Tuxedo. The best mouser ever - bar none. I just want him so. I yearn for him. I can’t bear the thought of him crying for me, we bonded so deeply. I’m retired from relationships for 16 years now. I thought life would get less complicated….

Females can also have a stronger reaction to a new cat since they assume they will have vulnerable kittens at any time.

1:30 am, I received a notification about a short from The Dodo. All my 3 dogs already in blissfully dreams, beside me in bed. "ow, nice! Let's watch before sleep, afterall they never cared about me watching videos during their sleeping". Two seconds later I clicked the screen: CHAOS! BARKS, PAWS, TAILS, ZOOMIES, HUNTING! And now, 14 minutes later, I am still laughing my pants off! 😂😂😂😂 (They already back to sleep 😴)

I am in the process of this right now. Day 3 and they are doing pretty well. Only one hiss so far. The kitten is pretty tiny, and my cat is a huge ragdoll (20lbs), so I'm hoping he understands the need to be gentle

I have an Orange Tabby and a Calliby (calico tabby) that used to scream at one another. Now it is hissing when they get too close.

My cats took 2 weeksto not hiss at one another but still took thier own time. I don't remember the exact length of time it took before they were just cuddling.

She is saying how dare you. Lol. Cat's love there people. Not wanting to share you. She is saying you didn't ask my permission. But most time they will warm up to kitty. But she is the 1 in the house. 😊😊

had this problem before... I did something stupid and I sprinkled cat nip on the new kitten... but it actually worked! The grumpy old cat was following the new kitten all day long. :) (don't trying this on every cat, of course) :)

You're lucky. I rescued 2 that always ran together, but once inside. Wow, is all I can say. One was pregnant so I think that's why they were aggressive.
