Fun fact about cats: They're actually communal animals and in a cat community, when one of them has kittens, they're adopted and co-parented by the entire community (for instance when the mom goes hunting others will look after the kittens). Housecats treat human babies in the same way, as they are "kittens" of other community members.

Cats in general seem to be able to recognize the offspring of other species and in some cases, treat them as their own. House cats accepting puppies and human babies. I've seen loinesses accept dear fawns. It's quite interesting.

My kitties used to try to groom my son after his baths when he was a baby. 😁 They loved having a human baby in the house! Senior kitties will also groom humans (of any age). It's a way of showing affection to the beings they consider to be young and lovable. Recently, I took in a 19 year old cat and a 17 year old cat who love to groom me and my son, who is now 16.

Aww the kitty is deaf? That's sad :( But nice to see that she is so nurturing and sweet :)

No, it didn’t. The cat clearly sees its owner as family and knows that the baby is its owner’s. And cats may groom anyone they see as family, so… It’s not doing this because it’s claiming the baby as its own.

My old cat knew when I got out of the shower. I would sit down and he was right there fast, gripping my head with claws 😳 and chew on my hair. For some odd reason it felt soothing.

Is it any wonder that we contract so many illnesses by this constant undermining of the immune system. A Microbiologist will tell you that pet saliva, as with humans is replete with bacteria
