Because for us old geezers that grew in the 80's all your info is something we know but you made it easy and pleasing to see and is enjoyable by the awesome production value, and for the new generation of players is a valuable treasure of retro culture appreciation for the games that everyone that likes videogames should play once on their lives. Agree with OP
I started Symphony of the Night for the very first time just a couple of days ago and I believe it was this video that pushed me to finally play it. My god. Thank you for that. Sometimes, when you play something, you can just feel how special it is. This is one of those games where, as I play it, I can *feel* that it's one of the greatest games of all time. Everything about it is incredible. Thank you for your insights and hard work!
Don't understand how this channel doesn't have more views. These videos are in a class of their own compared to all the other video game documentaries and retrospectives I've seen out there.
Thanks for making these videos!
Ahhh finally a new episode. Well done - as usual! Can't wait for more. :D
These production values are amazing. You need more views! Great Video!
Stumbled upon your channel and I must say, the production value and quality of your videos are amazing! Keep it up!
I have waited for a long time! XD, I'm glad that a video has been released!
Great series of retrospective videos on Castlevania. And I really enjoyed the narration and editing too. Alot of hard work went into this.
As a media editor i approve this channel, should have way more subs. The narrator must work for Discovery channel, best narration on youtube.
For all the little details, for the incredible pixel art (plus the surreal elegance of Ayami Kojima's artwork), for the over-the-top music score and for the way it stood the test of time, to me Symphony of the Night is what comes to mind when I hear the word Castlevania. Brilliant work. It's such a shame that these videos are so short! They're amazing! From Argentina, salud + subbed!
Sweet jesus your animations and overlays are breath taking and you speak to it perfectly. Such great work and everyone that loves video games should be watching these.
Castlevania is one of my top-fav gaming series. The soundtracks are endlessly appealing. Amazing work done on these videos! ❤️
By far one of the top 10 Games of all time, IMHO!
This is just an amazing series. I just love your videos. The narrator is also amazing. Just phenomenal work. I can’t believe you don’t have more subscribers. We have to get your channel noticed!!
The amount of work you put into these videos is just astonishing I often come to your channel just to re-watch some of the videos.

Visually stunning and very informative. Keep up the great work!
symphony of the night, was the first castlevania game I played, excellent gaming doc
Oh man, yes, oh so yes! You never cease to amaze, but now you especially outdid yourself! This is a breathtaking retrospective on the probably most popular and iconic entry of one of the most charismatic game series! All these perfect multi-level animations, man, I can't even imagine how this all was put together! :O No wonder the handhelds were more successful. There are tons of good 3D games and I believe there could exist a good 3D Castlevania, but it's like aliens, I haven't seen one (as far as I know...). This theme, this item collecting and these combat systems and this whole story fits 2D much better. As for me, I keep wondering if I should like Symphony of the Night or Aria of Sorrow more. That soul collecting is just perfect and the story with this reincarnation twist... so great! It would have been so good if a game describes the events of the eclipse sealing or if the movie would have been finished. I heard originally it would have been (partially?) shot in Hungary, to no surprise. However, I wouldn't call Circle of the Moon any great. The characters, especially the main character annoys me, the areas are simple and repetitive and the monster placement is like a 12 year old designed the rooms. What do I feel about the series? Joy and relief! It's so reassuring that a good series had the chance and made use of it. Sure, it's failing now with Judgement and Lords of Shadow, but which series isn't falling now, in this age when nothing is sacred anymore? I'm really happy for this mythological theme to be used. Bram Stoker's Dracula is one of my favourite books, extending its universe, especially with this great story is joy! The whole Dracula story with all the beliefs of medieval and post-medieval Transylvania (so, "Hungary") is just so wonderful. Dark castle mansions, wolves, pinetree woods, long, dark winters... Coupled with werevolves, mist, garlic, blood, silver and... vampires! So good. Once I read a writing on vampires, it claimed their origin is Egypt(ian mithology), because when Osiris was doing a ritual and he was defenseless, he was attacked and survived in a form that beared no light and required drinking blood to sustain life. Incidentally, Egyptian mythology also claims that Osiris, god of darkness, is always standing just in dark. I don't know man, it's interesting. But I won't ever get over that SotN's beginning claims that Transylvania is a countryside of a country that wasn't even existing at that time. Hungary at that time, Romania only after 1918-1920.

An outstanding production-!! I'm glad that I recently stumbled upon this channel when searching for a Castlevania retrospective, as I have just become a huge fan of the series. I have only experienced the classic style games with Rondo of Blood being my absolute favourite. Coincidentally, I'm currently awaiting Symphony of the Night's arrival in my mailbox, so this particular video has made me very eager~ I hope this video finds the channel with many more subscribers, cheers~

You guys deserve a standing ovation! I could watch you videos all day, it's pure quality! I watched the first video a couple days ago and yesterday I was surprised to see that there's a decent Android port of SOTN so I bought it to play on my tablet. Although you briefly mentioned the "Metroidvanias" from the portable Nintendo devices, I have to say that some of them, the Sorrow ones, are almost as good as SOTN, I really like them. I was used to watch that Retroware Show about the gaming years (or something like that) before it stopped, is this show related to that one? Thanks! Oh, kudos for the Genesis videos about Sonic CD and Shinibi/Bare Knuckle.

Thanks so much! and yeah the hand-held metroidvania's are really great. Everyone seem to have their own favorite, mine is Circle of the Moon the black-sheep of the series :) Retroware.tv was sort of a hub for retrogaming channels, we all worked independent from each other pretty much. Btw: a new Castlevania video will be up next month :)
My favorite is Symph but the world needs more Castlevania!
I can't pick one favorite. Castlevania, Dracula's Curse, Super Castlevania IV, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are all my favorites.
Symphony of the Night is my all time favorite, but I will always hold the original close to my heart. haha
My favorite is definitely Rondo no Blood, best graphics, and amazing level design. Each level was not short nor too long, secrets were challenging to find but never in a cheap way. And the overall difficulty of the game was really well balanced. And god ! multiple paths, characters, thoses power ups! Damn! Because of all this, Rond no Blood felt to me like it was a arcade game.
My childhood is now retro.
Symphony of the Night is the best Castlevania. It has the best music, the best art, the best characters, the best story. It created whole genera along with Metroid. How can you beat that?
Great video man! Keep the good work. Cheers from Brasil!!

My actually first game was harmony of despair, but love them all by watching those speedruns of series on youtube.
Symphony, Rondo, DraculaX and Super Castlevania4... all soooooo good so many years later... ageless like a vampire =P
Super Castlevania 4 is my pic for the best Castlevania. Love the retrospective. :)

So good
SOTN is by far my favorite. But I love the music from the series as vampire killer and bloody tears are top favorite songs
Great video
Bloodlines was my fav! I even listen to the OSTs sometimes.
Fine work..
A thing to mention: SotN's large, maze-like castle with many hidden areas was obviously heavily influenced by the Matroid series, earning SotN the unofficial title "Metroidvania", which later was also used to describe similar games.
I love Symphony of the Night it is the best game in the castlevania's saga
I agree with Gustavo Gimenez This should have way more than 2k views, i don't care how recent it is
My favorite is SotN from the 3 Castlevanias I've played. It has the right balance of everything.
I genuinely enjoy the original dialogue from symphony.
Amazing franchise
My favorite is Symphony of Night because at time the other games in the series were simply too much difficult for me. Symphony was more accessible and, of course, because I already had a special love for Super Metroid I ended up loving this one as well. Today I think that the power ups make the game too much easy, it stills my favorite.
Thanks
I *Always* Wanted to See a *LIVE* Action Film of a "Select" Castlevania StoryLine.
I love Castlevnia series with passion. Part of my life since I was 8. My favourite is Order of Ecclesia. The SOTN formula reaches it's pinaccle here. A polished and difficult game. Great graphics (despite the tiny DS screen) and music. From the 3D era, I like the two ps2 releases, Lament of Innocence has a great gameplay and the graphics and music are on point. Creating a great atmosphere. Curse of Darkness, I think is more raw. The combat system and music are excellent (enemaous machine tower is a masterpiece) but the gameplay feels boring sometimes, the graphics are not so inspired like on LOI, nor the stage design. And recently I played the "spiritual sucessor", Bloodstained... oh boy how I loved that game.
Are you kidding me?! How did I miss this video when it was posted. This game is one of my all time favorite titles to ever grace gaming and I bought it on a whim. I just purchased Castlevania 64, excited at the prospect of a 3d Castlevania. I hurriedly went home, ignoring all traffic laws on my way...cause new game! I slapped it into my N64 and...what an abortion. I drove back to Walmart and was able to return it (friends are great). I really wanted to.play a Castlevania game so bad after that and I saw nothing on thrme N64 that piqued my interest. I seldom bought N64 games but Castlevania was different. I went to my usual place the PlayStation case and Saturn bargain bin (I had them all, so did my roommate). I perused the game section and I saw a game I had not before. "What the Hell is Castlevania Symphony of The Night, I thought." I looked at the back and was a bit dismayed that it was a 2d game but I thought anything would be better than Castlevania 64. When I threw it on my PlayStation and gave it a chance I was instantly hooked. I even took 3 sick days just to finish that game. I'm not kidding, I didn't move from my Lazy Boy except to answer the door for pizza and wings. I have never wished for a bathroom in my living room before or but that game had me. I have purchased it so many timescover the years its become a bit of an obsession for me. I even imported the Saturn version and with my trusty Action Replay Cart I was able to play it too. This of course caused me to buy a Japanese Turbo Duo with Rondo of Blood. Why the Hell didn't they port that to the Sega CD?! We got Snatcher (excellent game) but not Rondo...
I pledge for a SOTN remastered version.. superb video
EPIC

SOTN sem dúvidas é uma obra d arte!
awesome work man ! always a pleasure to watch My favorite game is still Castlevania Circle of the Moon, the first i have ever play, i love so much the MetroidVania style, and i like the previous 2D castlevania too The PS2 3D castlevania wasn't bad but i never come back playing this games, and now i feel so sad about what the series become, i don't like the lord of shadow era I still wait for the come back of a 2D episode, nothing since 2008...too long :-( Harmony of Despair was a good candy but it's not a real Castlevania with scenario and exploration, just a cool multiplayer action game for nostalgic
Great episode. SHould have covered Chronicles though. My favourite is Symphony of the Night, fantastic game.

***** Thanks! I mentioned Chronicles in part 2, since it was actually a remake of the x68000 game.
SCIV, Rondo of Blood and SotN are the ones I played the most. Castlevania is a fantastic franchise. Pity Konami wants to turn it into a pachinko one now.
You my friend.. Are awesome !! My fave is castlevania 4 but you might wanna try mirror of fate on the 3ds.. It's like a mix of everything good about castlevania IMO :-)

Grimm Stabnandez Thanks! And Shinobi.. yeah sure. perhaps with the focus on the 16-bit games, but it's definitely a sega series I want to tacle this year.
My most favorite vintage castlevanias are these.Super Castlevania IV,Dracula-X Rondo of Blood and Castlevania Bloodlines. The runner ups would be the trilogy on the nes.Though i don't hate the metroidvanias i only played sotn and following the gba ones.

+Larry Bundy Jr Oh yeah, "Harmony of Sorrow" right? I was about to ask what are you talking about since it all went downhill with Lords of Shadow, then Konami gets a new CEO who decides to spit on their audience in favor of taking all their beloved franchises and just making pachinko machines. SMH
Super Castlevania was the first game I bought for my super Nintendo.
If anyone is looking for the end video song is Castlevania Chronicles 09 Bloody tears.... took me 45min just to find this version.
SOTN for the win! I would kill for a sequel or 3DS remake.
My favorite will always be Castlevania 3 Dracula's Curse but both Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood are close second.
I couldn't even tell SotN was a Catlevania title when it was launched. It had so many different aspects like gameplay, gametone, art style, dificulty curve that easily it can belong to a total different franchise if you take off the 'Castlevania' of the title. I remember playing it, it was a good game, but it wasn't castlevania, it lacked the plataforming challenge, the peril of having you life bar at the end and finding you in a difficult stage, the thrill of fighting several bosses in a row with nothing but your skill to make it victorious, (alucard was OP and almost indestructible in SotN) and of course it lacked of the spookiness and eerieness from their predecesors. Nethertheless it was successful and atracted a masive number of new players to the franchise, and for all those new fans SotN becames their point of reference, hence the sequels kept the style. (So no new old castlevania for me anymore boo hoo) IMO the acceptance of SotN had most to do with all those new fans not because the existent fanbase liked the changes. I wont gonna lie, I really dislike the flashy anime style that SotN brought for good to the franchise. When i saw the netflix series, I swear to god, I almost shoot myself. Castlevania 4 had already figured out how to improve the franchise, why didn't they kept that path? Maybe i'll do my own new Castlevania with blackjack and hookers
Kojima's art reminds me of the Japanese box arts for CV4 and Belmont's Revenge. Wonder if there was any intention to replicate them
Castlevania 4, my favorite hands down. SotN is a close 2nd.
I miss castlevania
Great work on this series. It was inevitable that the franchise would wonder into 3d territory but, like Sonic,it's not faired very well at all. They should have realised this over a decade ago and kept it 2d with the possibility of having perhaps some 2.5d sections, only if well done and warrantied though. Some games are just not supposed to go 3d. Look at the initial success of Iga's Bloodstained game, that's a 2d game and in 2015. There is clearly room for 2d and 3d games but the software houses need to understand the limits of what they are doing with the game play. ..I think we are now on our way to getting right.
Favorite games have to be CV3 and Bloodlines. ReBirth on WiiWare is probably my favorite CV game in the last ten years. You guys used a song from it when talking about Adventure and Belmont's Revenge in part 1, kinda weird you don't mention it at all here. It's crazy fun.
@strafefox

Hector Garfria Yeah the Castlevania Adventure is really great, had a lot of fun with it.
SotN was also release on Saturn in Japan only.
super metroid would be interesting to see how the development went since it was at the late years of the snes, 94. :)
What is the name of that song played with the chorus "tears washed out by rain"? Please tell me.
dat production value tho
My favorite Castlevania is the first three...because the games are so difficult...I love dificcult games.....and the about actual series, only the DS and PSP liked it....but the home consoles I do not like much because are so easy

are you going to do another one over lords of shadow series?
strafefox If this is the final installment of this series, I am a bit let down! I would have like to of seen the N64, Xbox, PS2, Xbox 360, GBA & DS titles get the same amount of coverage as all the other entries. This series could easily have two more parts (one for the GBA & DS entries and one for the 3D entries). With the first three parts, I consider this to be a good start to a fantastic documentation of a great franchise. Please reconsider!
