    Man, the one thing that would’ve been the cherry on top of this is if at the end you’d put Godzilla’s little hum he does. This was so cool, loved how it depicted monarch as a much more villainous and insidious role rather than the more cut and dry heroic vision from the films.

    How exactly was Monarch ever evil? In both the films and comics? They always just pegged me as your typical secret government organization tasked with containing threats to global security (in this case, the Titans) and prevent them from ever becoming known to the public. It’s not like they were ever trying to take over the world or attempting to weaponize the Titans.

    This was actually pretty good, but i have one gripe. The existential dread over Godzilla's existence quickly dissipates once you realize that he's far more benevolent in the monsterverse continuity than he is in even a decent percent of the Showa era. I feel as if this tale kept the continuity vague or established its own it would've been more impactful. Still, really cool.

    @@jeggsonvohees2201 I’m talking about the audience/readers, not the Author. Sure the narrator obviously isn’t in on Godzilla’s personality, but we definitely are. Like I said, had it been a prequel to the 54 film or set in its own distinct continuity I feel it would’ve been far more ominous.

  • @darkman4204

    @darkman4204

    @@ayrahn7893 well to be honest Godzilla (in the monsterverse) is not really much of a good guy, yes the actions we see of this version of the character are good, but we can't just ignore the fact that he's willing to kill people to get a job done. Did people really forget the tidal wave scene in 2014? Or him destroying the Apex facility in the beginning of GvK? He's willing to hurt or kill humans to get things done. Just because it disrupts the balance of nature. It's an entity that's willing to destroy to preserve life, to me this version of Godzilla is more of a anti-hero more than anything.

    Excellent...that was a good story. I like the approach to it as well. But of all of the terrible ways we could go...I think this one could be one of the coolest. Haha better than a zombie apocalypse...although you'd get to do a bit more fighting in that scenario. Release some of that aggression we're all so good at pretending we don't harbor.
