I grew up in the midwest and this is nothing like it. There's no "endless cornfields" that's movie shit. And dude who's narrating this isn't even from America. Also, I've seen a lot of speed trap lights in Seattle so that isn't a "midwest" thing.

On our honeymoon we took a road trip out west and a guy at a gas ⛽️ station told us of a scenic shortcut. It took us 3 hours to go 30 miles on a single lane bumpy dirt and boulder road to Cody WY going 5 to 10 miles an hour to get to a paved hwy. This was 1977 we were lucky not to blow out any of our tires with no cell phones back then... their was absolutely no civilization on that route. This story reminds me of our adventure down an old deserted road. We were 20, Today is our 45th anniversary ❤️

Congratulations on reaching such a wonderfully impressive milestone - best wishes for the many years ahead. Regarding your anecdote, while it was probably awful at the time, it's something that you can both look back upon together - did you at least have radio reception? Take care of yourselves - best wishes from sunny Scotland ✌️

Great story, really gave me the willies! About 15 years ago around dusk I dozed off while driving on a similar lonely highway in the middle of nowhere Georgia listening to some really old country music (the only station I could pick up in that area on my Silverado's radio) & I woke up about a quarter of a mile deep in some farmers corn field, completely alone. I don't remember falling asleep tbh; but I do remember climbing out of the pickups cab & onto my toolbox looking around confused as can be trying to get my bearings & figure out wtf just happened. The truck was perfectly fine, no damage at all; but the engine had stalled out. Even stranger, I couldn't see the way I came in, let alone anything but corn rising to the roof all around me (almost like my truck had been dropped in the middle of the field). Once I finally located the highway off in the distance, I noticed the pickup was facing the road. No cell phone reception & the county station was only static. I was terrified & completely bamboozled. Stranger still as I drove back up onto the desolate country highway there was a clear path in the field behind me. To this day I WILL NOT listen to country music while driving.

I live in the upper Midwest, Iowa, on a farm with this year's corn (next year soybeans) completely surrounding me. I think it's heaven on earth. What was hell to me in my youth was living for thankfully, only a few years, in a big city, Sioux Falls, SD. Sure, close to stores and bars but the effing traffic and far too many people spelled the end to that BS. Can you city dwellers step out of your houses after dark, look up and see millions of stars? Can you smell clean, fresh air? And when you drive on the highway (2 miles away), US18 that goes coast to coast, do you fight traffic? I don't. Sure, there's tractors pulling various implements, lots of trucks and SUV's but they're spread out here. 3 miles into town, pop' 3800, sometimes meeting 0 vehicles is heaven by itself. In this story the guy was able to drive over cornstalks without getting high centered! Must be a very bad stand. As a kid I found out the easy way that it's a very bad idea... following the rows, in a pickup you'll get stuck shortly and without a buddy to quickly pull you out, well, dad was none too happy and his belt? Yeah, it hurt like hell but DID make the right impression on me... never did THAT again! Jeepers Creepers, this was a scary story! LOL, that kind of thing rarely happens around here but when someone goes missing...
