How heart-warmingly optimistic you were to hope a spider would build a web in your frames. Good work. I admire your persistence.
@barnabyhowesculpture

Yes it was a bit optimistic. I'm also not sure how well it would have worked further down the line with the rest of the processes, even if a spider did build it's web in the frame. At least I got there in the end. Thanks for watching!
I think the blue was the perfect choice, the end result is super cool!

I honestly feel like black would’ve been better (Just my opinion). But the blue one looks really cool too.

Yes, the blue and white do go together very well. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely stunning! Spiders are the real "web designers" and Ive always found their webs quite beautiful. I love to photograph them. How amazing that you have accomplished capturing such a fragile, ethereal bit of nature for all to admire!

Me too, I wasn't certain it would work out....until it did!
I’ve gotten webs out in tall grass , garden spiders make the best webs. I paint them with enamel in place, this lets them dry faster. I put resin on my wood and while wet I go out and catch the web . 👍👍👍👍

That sounds like a good way of doing it too, and quite different to my process. Thanks for watching!

So cool! Do you paint them with a brush or spray gun?
@markcrouch7463

Spray can.
You can cut the middle into a small thin circular disk and sell it as a custom watch dial. You can even cut the rest of it as well as dials but obviously for a cheaper price than the middle part. I think you can make a lot of money selling those. And I wonder if it's possible to spray the web with luminous paint ? That would be a smashing feature for a watch to have a luminous web dial. Seriously consider it, it might be a great business opportunity. Good luck, totally love your channel

Something you may want to try to stabilise the web is place the web in a box with a tea light heating a small tray of super glue. It should vaporize and attcah to the web but also leave a white haze to it when it dries
Super work, now there is one heck of a proud spider out there, his home is viral. Thank you.
Definitely use black instead of blue next time

Why?
Wow! Well done 🎉 Running resin along the mold cast lines before the ‘big pour’ is genius, I wonder why more channels don’t do that!
This was super cool! I would love to see you coat the strands of spider silk that make up the web in several layers/coatings of resin, letting each one cure. So then you would end up with a free-standing webbing, rather than having the web encased in resin. You would probably still need to paint the web. It kind of makes sense that the resin ate away every paint, except one that's water soluble. You could start by dipping the web like you did in this video, but you may be able to use a dropper to apply beads of resin to a strand of web and then spread it out. Small beads of resin might even end up looking like water droplets on the web!
Lovely piece. I didn't know that aluminum foil would not stick to the resin.

So, yes I do use the slightly thicker version of foil that you can get from the supermarket, but I don't add any release agent. I do however use polyester resin, so if you use epoxy it may behave differently.
The way my younger cousin described doing this for a Sunday school class was that they used hairspray or you could probably use spray paint, but anyway, they sprayed it and then, once dry, they put it on a piece of black construction paper. I’m sure the same could be done with a black base made of resin. Following the same steps should yield results. Honestly I’ll have to try it out myself.

What an amazing impossible idea that you made possible with an elegant and brilliant pour ❤ it
I've seen people capturing webs by spraying them with hair spray and then pressing a card against them. I wonder if that would work with foil? Then, instead of having the hoop around the outside and having to dip it in, you could just lay the foil into the thin layer of resin and peel it off when it's cured. You'd have to spray it white first, then with the hairspray, then capture it though.
its not a want, its a NEED. as a spider lover i need this in my house
Fascinating! Thank you! Beautiful result.

This kind of reminds me of a local news story over 20 years ago, there was a local lady that had just massive amounts of webs around bushes in her yard, she would spray paint (just plain ol spray paint) the webs silver or gold and then put a black poster board (that was cut to fit a photo frame) behind the painted web then pull it into the web, the wet paint acts like a glue to adhere the webs to the black poster board. Once dry she would then mount them in the frames and sell them at local craft shows and such ($10-$15ea) not bad for late 90's early 2000's
