Yes it was a bit optimistic. I'm also not sure how well it would have worked further down the line with the rest of the processes, even if a spider did build it's web in the frame. At least I got there in the end. Thanks for watching!

I’ve gotten webs out in tall grass , garden spiders make the best webs. I paint them with enamel in place, this lets them dry faster. I put resin on my wood and while wet I go out and catch the web . 👍👍👍👍

You can cut the middle into a small thin circular disk and sell it as a custom watch dial. You can even cut the rest of it as well as dials but obviously for a cheaper price than the middle part. I think you can make a lot of money selling those. And I wonder if it's possible to spray the web with luminous paint ? That would be a smashing feature for a watch to have a luminous web dial. Seriously consider it, it might be a great business opportunity. Good luck, totally love your channel

Something you may want to try to stabilise the web is place the web in a box with a tea light heating a small tray of super glue. It should vaporize and attcah to the web but also leave a white haze to it when it dries

This was super cool! I would love to see you coat the strands of spider silk that make up the web in several layers/coatings of resin, letting each one cure. So then you would end up with a free-standing webbing, rather than having the web encased in resin. You would probably still need to paint the web. It kind of makes sense that the resin ate away every paint, except one that's water soluble. You could start by dipping the web like you did in this video, but you may be able to use a dropper to apply beads of resin to a strand of web and then spread it out. Small beads of resin might even end up looking like water droplets on the web!

The way my younger cousin described doing this for a Sunday school class was that they used hairspray or you could probably use spray paint, but anyway, they sprayed it and then, once dry, they put it on a piece of black construction paper. I’m sure the same could be done with a black base made of resin. Following the same steps should yield results. Honestly I’ll have to try it out myself.

I've seen people capturing webs by spraying them with hair spray and then pressing a card against them. I wonder if that would work with foil? Then, instead of having the hoop around the outside and having to dip it in, you could just lay the foil into the thin layer of resin and peel it off when it's cured. You'd have to spray it white first, then with the hairspray, then capture it though.

This kind of reminds me of a local news story over 20 years ago, there was a local lady that had just massive amounts of webs around bushes in her yard, she would spray paint (just plain ol spray paint) the webs silver or gold and then put a black poster board (that was cut to fit a photo frame) behind the painted web then pull it into the web, the wet paint acts like a glue to adhere the webs to the black poster board. Once dry she would then mount them in the frames and sell them at local craft shows and such ($10-$15ea) not bad for late 90's early 2000's

That's interesting to hear. I guess the desire to preserve something as ethereal as a spiders web has been about for a long time, but the processes for doing it are evolving. Thank you for watching!

I had seen this video, gave it a thumbs up and commented how beautiful it was. You responded back with a thank you. I just watched the video again and have subscribed to your channel. I love watching artistic channels especially when they are new to the KZread platform. Keep up the good work. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
