Looking for CASPer test question and expert answers? Look no further!
What is the CASPer test? It is a Computer Based Sampling of Personal Characteristics. As part of the Altus Suite assessment, along with the Snapshot and the Duet, CASper is sometimes used by professional programs to evaluate applicants' non-cognitive abilities. If you are familiar with Multiple Mini Interviews, it is easier to imagine the CASPer test as an online, written MMI.
CASPer questions consist of written or video prompts or scenarios, and then you are typically asked about your thoughts on the case, how you might resolve the situation, or even how your perspective would change if one of the variables was different. Of course, all of this has to be typed in a limited number of characters and in a limited amount of time.
Hypothetical scenarios are the most well-known type of CASPer question, but there are other challenging CASPer question types, as well. In this video, we'll go over a Quote-based CASPer question, help you break it down and think about it, and offer some tips for responding to quote-based CASPer questions, even if you are unfamiliar with the quotation or the person who said it.
Here is the quote discussed in the video: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever effects one directly, effects all indirectly.” (Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.)

Quote: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” What do we know? - Dr. King was a great civil rights leader. First sentence: - A single injustice is not in and of itself singular. Individual actions of bigotry and racism are not individual or personal. Second: - We are all part of this whether we like it or not. We can't not be part of this. - used metaphor, we are all threads tied up together - MLK was a reverend and a civil rights leader - destiny for him is bound up with his activism and religiosity - King believes in a divine structure Third: - Repeating himself. Same idea in multiple ways.

Hi there, thanks for your comment. You'll have five minutes to respond to the three questions in each scenario. There isn't a required length, but you should ensure your response has depth, is detailed, and easy to understand.

In the beginning, she says we don't have to know what the quoter meant to say or be familiar with the quoter, yet continues to remind us "what do we know about King?" and preach about how his background/experiences influences his quote? Literally the whole video was the opposite of her starting advice

HI Tori, thank you for your comment. You certainly do not need to know the context of the quote to give a quality answer. However, if you have insightful information that can help you articulate a great answer, you may use it. Remember, these are just sample questions and answers, you can create your own answer without referencing King's background and experiences.

what if you don't have enough time to answer some of the questions, will marks be taken off? and are we allowed to write in point form? or is it better to create clear sentences that are straight to the point?

Thank you for your question. Remember, you do not need to answer all three questions. If you give one solid answer that covers all the aspects of the scenario/dilemma - you will score well. Of course, everything will depend on the types of questions you are presented with, but generally, you can only answer one or two questions if you are running out of time. You can write in bullet points, but remember that a well-structured sentence can make a better impression.

Are we supposed to think about and type such in under 5 minutes? the test seems unfair. Slow typers would not get their right score

Yes, test takers are given 5 minutes to type their responses to the questions. It's a good idea to practice repeatedly so you can work on your pacing and determine if you need to improve your typing speed.
