CASIO MT-70 and Zoom MultiStomp MS-100BT
Музыка
Just a small small test that I did with cute Casiotone MT-70 and Zoom Multistomp FX pedal. I noticed the CASIO MT-70 at local listings and it cost next to nothing so I grabbed it.
-- SORRY ABOUT THE BACKGROUND HUM --
There is some issues with the power adapter that came with the the instrument. Didn't catch the hum after I had record
MT-70 has just 20 preset sounds and to be honest, most of those sounds rather bland and not any where realistic. Worst might be the brass and chorus sounds. Where this lovely keyboard shines are the organ sounds and bright vibraphone and xylophone sounds. What is special with this cheap little keyboard, is that it has analog drum sounds. The drum sounds are on the thin side and it just plays pre programmed preset patterns, but it has that early 80's retro sound that reminds from early Roland CompuRhythms and Korg's MiniPops and KR-series.
Select Rock 1 pattern, hit play and you cannot help thinking of OMD's Enola Gay.
I originally bought this more as an novelty item, but as soon as I powered it on, I lost couple days with it. It's cute, cool looking, organ sounds are better than on many other cheap casios and the analog drums are nice bonus.

The Casio MT-70 was the first keyboard I learned to play in 1981-82. Its display helped me a lot to recognize different chords. It was a wonderful keyboard of that time.
Love it. I keep coming back to this video, waiting for our MT-70 to arrive...
6:08 yeah man, that's sounds good!!!

very good analogue drum sound !
Nice! Congrats! I think those drums sounds are sweet! I bought an MT18 this week because of the analog drums, but at least 2 of the patches are really cool too. Thanks for the awesome demo! It's haunting and dark!
I had one of these in the 1980s. I hated it at the time because it wasn't a "proper" synth (this was in the age of the Roland Jupiter 8 and the Yamaha DX7). But I noticed that Hot Chip used it on their album The Warning, and it can be seen in the video for Over and Over. It just goes to show that it's not what equipment you have, but how you use it.

At the time I bought it (1983), it offered the most authentic “jazz organ” sound available on Casio-type keyboards. About three years later, I bought my first Hammond - a couple months after THAT, a Leslie. This Casio - and the MT-40 before it - literally gave me my first “push” on the keyboard/organ road.
You are getting some great sounds out of this.I worked in a shop that sold them thirty years ago. I always loved the analogue drums and the organ sound. It came with a bar code reader and a book of demo songs in bar code format. You scanned the pages and the keyboard would play the songs and the notes would light up as they played, and you could play along. Unique little keyboard.Very nice.

Thank you for commenting :) I noticed this keyboard at local classfieds. It looked to be in great condition, but it didn't have the code reader pen. When I got it I was pleasantly surprised how nice the organ patches sounded. I originally went for it for the cheap analog drum sounds and for its cool looks. I got it more as an novelty item, but now I've played every day for a week now.
You could play like half of beach house's discography with this
Great demo
I recently picked on of the golden oldies up for just €7,50! I love the sounds of it. Although it misses some knobs and deserves a good clean, a very good deal!

Thanks Jurgen! I really love this small keyboard. I've played with a lot lately. Many of the preset sounds are meh and not that usable, but rest are OK and I love the organ type of sounds this thing makes. Analog "LO-FI" beats are nice add on and most of the time I have some of the beats playing while I jam with this cute Casio :)
Awesome video, I love my MT-70 it's definitely unique
Excellent. Also, the lightpen that could read the bar coded songs that came with it, to load them into memory and teach you to play it via led lights above keys. Fantastic little keyboard. Also, the feel of the keys is better than most of what you can buy these days. At least to me.
Love my MT70, hook it up to a guitar amp and use lower octaves on the piano sound. Makes a good bass sound.
I love the drums in this thing, would buy one just for those!
Interesting one can use this combination for synthwave/new wave production.
i found one of this at the street 6 months ago! and it works!!
I've got two of those. The first one was my first "serious" keyboard back in 1984. Still got it, but accidentally reversed polarity on the power supply some months ago and I am still fixing it (some damaged areas on the analog boards, but nothing that I can't cope with, hopefully). Then I bought a second one. I recall running the output through an Ibanez analogue multieffect pedal back in the 80's (applying some chorus) and the organ sound (the init preset) sounded awesome. Even gigged with a local band with it :)

Hey man can you tell me the right polarity and other input specs. Cause I have an old one but nor working just gave me a humming in the stereo and disapeared so it may be faulty adapter??
great videos in the playlist , thank you

They call those little Casio's toys, but put them through pedals and amps and they can make good music like this!
Aprendi a tocar nesse teclado!
those 'dry' percussive sounds that resemble a 'beep' somehow (used a lot in old computer games of the 1980s for example) date back to the analog electronic organs of the 1970s and earlier in fact ... if you can find them still, check out some old Italian Farfisa home and stage organs for example ... some Farfisa models of the yesteryears had analog drums and classic style arpeggio passages that worked across the entire 5-octave keyboard instead of only the 1.x octave typical of post-1980s digital keyboards! besides, even a single note or double notes chord worked with the automated accompanying chords and rhthm styles ... LIVE! no digital keyboard i know of today can do that unless you use the MIDI and program them via a computer to do so ... in fact, most analog 'electronic organs' of the old times from YAMAHA, Farfisa, and others did similar things too, even the cheapest ones ... rhythms and sounds / voice could be mixed with each other as well to create new ones ... so, a 6-rhythm-only electronic organ could in fact yield many more patterns ... so with the voices and sounds ...

Old comment I know. I have a Farfisa FK-55. There seems to be very little information online available for it. I think it dates back to the 1970's and has an analogue sound. I picked it up for 15 GBP
I'm thinking about buying a Zoom Multistomp pedal, I'm between ms 50g and ms 100bt, last one has stereo input and first one just mono input, I have the same Casio, do you know it would be a problem if I just use a mono connection with keyboard? I mean about quality of effects or something like that
О я нарежу сэмплов из этого, волшебные звуки звучит вкусно 👌
Still good
Hey I couldn't find many synth videos with the MS-100bt. Do you love it? I was looking at the MS-70 reverb/delay but wasn't sure if this thing did it all and more?
What kind of cabling were you utilizing from your Casio to your pedal? Thanks for the info bro.
@tiergrinder

Hi there Nathaliel. In CASIO i used 6.3mm to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter. I hooked cable with 3.5mm stereoplug to 2 x RCA connectors to that. RCA connectors have RCA > 6.3mm monoplugs that go in to the pedal. I know its a hassle, but those were at hand when I recorded this :D You could simply use a cable with one 6.3mm stereo phoneplug and two 6.3mm monoplugs at the other end.
I used chorus, delay, flanger, reverb, tape echo on my keys in the late 70’s .kind of had too because most of the keys sounded boring.
At the 3 minute mark are you playing Coldplay?

The Casio MT-70 uses a 7.5V power supply adapter. You can get it on Amazon. It needs to be negative polarity. This is the one I bought. T POWER AC Adapter 7.5V Compatible with CASIO Casiotone.
