Basic MS-70CDR Tutorial

Basic MS-70CDR Tutorial
The Zoom MS-70CDR is a multieffects pedal with a massive variety of features, but it can be a little daunting at first. I created this tutorial to help walk through the most basic functions of the pedal, including navigation, chain creation, and parameter manipulation. I hope this helps someone out there to get started with this awesome little pedal! Enjoy the video :)

Two tips that help me...1. Turn off autosave, this keeps your favourite chains intact after you've messed about with the parameters. If you like the results of your parameter changes, you can choose to save the chain when desired. 2. Using an empty save slot, create an 'init' chain, without any effects added, (ie a named, but empty chain) and use this one as your go-to chain every time you want to set up a new one-off chain that you don't intend to keep. That way you'll always have a slot free for playtime! :-)

I use a MIDI switching pedal - DOREMIDI - to cycle through patches on the fly, rather than reaching down to fiddle the buttons. It also powers the pedal so on a gig I only need the right leads and a USB power supply.

I love this pedal. I have it permanently hooked to the aux outs of my mixer. It's easily hackable to use distortion and most anything else from the guitar- and bass-specific versions of the pedal. Also, despite the form factor, I can't imagine this as anything other than a tabletop unit.

This is on my list, my buying habits are weirs, if I can afford an new module, I look for that, around $600 if I have enough for some pedals I go onto Amazon and get as many different ones as I can, I mostly use them as a starter project, it’s fun to me any, but some these inexpensive pedals sound great all ready! Have a great mini tour! One more thing is like Lore and Fable are more synths than effects, the hologram suite is a must have as well, but I still get inexpensive ones to compare and use as a basis for a mod. I’ve also been known to break em down and make a eurorack of them. When I have a successful mod, I immediately buy it again, I’ve used thr same pedal 3 times doing this! It saves a lot of money compared to buying th parts..Most of mine are didital, IAm not a n analog snob! Great video, and this is one I could make any better, and it’s not exactly price friendly to experiment with it.

Great video! Stereo is extremely important! As I posted on yesterday’s, you can run two different effect chains into different sources, in my case amps. I mentioned I can have the left side with a Dreadbox lethargy and the right with the Dreadbox krobli and connect the envelopes so you get both on each side but one is more prominent on each side, an autopingpong if you will! peace! I’d like to point out the effect’s change your synth into something else, it is like buying a whole new synth!

One thing the Ms70 does have over a standard pedalboard is the ability to rearrange the chain with minimal effort. I was missing that so I got a Patchulator 8000 which is a pedalboard patchbay that gives me back that ability... Only thing missing is patch saving, but that can be a benefit when you occasionally find a completely new sound while trying to dial in something you used before.

Great pedal, superb effects. The only really really bad thing about it is that it doesn't have a headphone output. That is, the configuration with it is never complete, it always requires something else. When you're in a studio or recording a video, you don't notice that. But if you just want to use it for effects for some synth, it turns out that synth+this pedal is just not enough - you really need yet another device. That's a real shame.
