Casio Loopy - Fifth VideoGame Generation Recap - Adam Koralik

Ойындар

It's Adam Koralik here and today we're discussing the Casio Loopy! This is a retro-active episode of my 5th generation recap videogame console series. I didn't originally own this console, but I do now!
I'm considering this part 6.3 as it wedges between episodes 6.15 and 6.5...and 7...Confusing, whatever, anyway, enjoy!

There's a universe where Casio made a ninth generation console equipped with a 3D printer. With which you can print a better console, giving a whole new meaning to homebrew.

thank you for bringing attention to this random console Adam! I may be one of the few, but I’m one of the minority who loves having the Loopy and all the weird things it can do. I literally just posted my own review of the system. Believe it or not, some of the games do show off some of the 3D capabilities of the system but in rarely known ways. One of the games you own is actually one of the harder games to obtain. I know you don’t like the system but would love to send over the add-on for you to try out!

If I had a shitload of money, I'd hire a development team to go over this thing and really push the hardware to figure out what it's capable of. Then, once we had the specs down, I'd have them develop a completely serious and mature horror mystery game for it; and use the printer feature to print out clues and other things that would tie into the mystery and gameplay.

Honestly, a sticker printer in a game console is kind of a neat idea actually. It's like the old school version of screenshots, but instead of posting them online you have a sticker to put on things. I think Casio would have been better off selling this thing as an accessory for printing images from other game consoles instead of it being its own thing. Also your story was hilarious. My uncle once told me that every time he bought a car, he would start seeing other people with the same model everywhere he went. I guess the same is true about Casio Loopys.

Hello, new fan from the UK here. Thanks so much for showing us these odd consoles and giving us some thoughts on why they achieved low sales. You have quite a collection there. Good point - this console selling stickers was a big mistake. Took money away from the console and what it could do - which is what mattered. Also, after thinking, agree on the big "kiddy" buttons. As in kids' eyes, the bigger buttoned things were for smaller kids are were always less powerful and cheaper. Kids will pick this up for sure! They want a better "big kid" console. A also think trying to sell to girls back then was a big mistake too. Nine out of 10 girls have always liked different kinds of games - role players and puzzle games. They really never liked games that involved cor-ordination or reaction times much. My guess is this is innate, as it was true around the world, and is still true today. Roughly 1 out 10 women do like this kind of games though. Girls also for some reason like motion sensor and touch-screen sensor inputs much more. Role-playing games have improved a lot since that era - as the graphics and sounds really improved the whole experience. It's no longer about "look what this cool piece of technology can do" (90% boy perspective), and more "playing this is a cool experience that involved character interaction" (girl perspective). Back then if you enjoyed cool new technology for engineering reasons and liked having your co-ordination and reflexes tested - the 90s was a good era for gaming. That is my theory on why more boys liked games back then. I think the industry did actually try very hard to sell to girls, but it was a hard sell back then as girls are different. They soon realised their market for boys and the marketing switched to suit boys. That is why we must be careful about cause and effect. Anyway, happy new years, look forward to more content from your channel!
