The way Mandy said "okay he's fine" like she wouldn't have consented to listening to the story if he wasn’t good-looking enough.

It's so incredibly fitting how the man who invented the lottery was a literal predator/serial SAer.

I was 11 at the time so didn't see it, but there was a 2005 BBC Casanova show where David Tennant plays the titular character. A woman in a fancy gown saying "oh look everybody it's Casanova" from the advert is permanently seared into my brain for some reason. Didn't know how much of a scumbag he was!

It was far from historically accurate and left out a lot of the scumbag behavior, but that miniseries included some wild details direct from Casanova's memoir.

@@featheredskyblue Yeah it was basically Casanova without all the SA. It was pretty fun! I thought it was funny when they called Casanova the Dr Who of the 18th C because they've both been played by David Tennant.

32:30 Caelan, I know you'll never see this but "medieval Ani DiFranco" is now an official descriptor for a subgenre of tracks/playlists I've had catalogued for *eons* - thanks for categorizing something I've struggled to verbalize in such a concise and elegant manner. Once again, appreciate the "small stuff" (parasocial) bestie.

Casanova may have been an incestuous rapist/predator who dealt in underage sex slaves, but he did have a most fascinating journey through life. Errr... is there a but after "incestuous rapist/predator who dealt in underage sex slaves"? Perhaps that description should be the whole story, but...? The dead team, appropriately or not, saved the worst damning facts for the very end after detailing the fascinating, not so criminal bits. And writing 13 hours a day as a sick old man is impressive. I read on Wikipedia that his memoir is thousands of pages long and is considered the best primary source for info on the mores and customs of 18th century Europe. Another good episode. thanks.

I have just started to listen to this episode, but as an Italian I'm both offended by the accents and laughing my ass off Your pronunciation of the names are terrible but very fun (Also whenever American talk about pepperoni is always hilarious for me because we have the same word in Italian and it means *peppers* so the mental image is very funny)

Antipasta Threeway is truly the most Italian of all possible deflowerings. Also a great name for a band, or maybe Sylvio Berlusconi's racehorse.

Ah ah ah As an Italian it's so funny people repeating stereotypes or complaining about it are always talking about never seen shit with never heard accents, except pizza you know about that. Like Marinara sauce... It's just surreal, please go on!
