Hi guys... I have been asked what knife and chisels I used so here they are... Straight chip carving knife... bought through Etsy ... from Proops Sheffield... 30mm blade... Robert Sorby 3mm V gouge... Amazon... I shortened the length of the steel... Robert Sorby 2mm straight gouge... Amazon... shortened length again... Henry Taylor 6 piece super sharp gouge set... Axminster tools... Basswood from Yandles in Martock Somerset... The plastic tray is a potting tray from a garden centre... I hope that this helps...

Beautiful carving there Andy. I'm going to have to have a go at this one. What is the knife you're using? I have a Drake knife that I got from the US but it cost me as much again in import & customs fees! Lovely knife but I'd rather see if I can get a good one over here. I don't like the x-cut range, not comfy in the hand. Keep up the great videos! 👍👍

Hi Andrew... Thank you very much... I hope that you enjoy carving it ... these are quick and fun to do... The knife that I used is from Proops bros... Go to the Etsy UK site ... type in .. straight chip carving knife... and it should be on the second row... Sheffield made straight chip carving tool...£7.50 inc postage... It's not in the same league as Helvee but for the money you can't go wrong... It comes with bevels on the cutting edge which I don't like so I did have to re- sharpen it without the bevels... I have a faithfull double sided 400 and 1000 grit sharpening stone which made it easy... Then polish with wet and dry paper and then final sharpen with polishing compound on a strop... I hope this helps... Take care...All the best.....Andy

Hmm, my wood never squeaks to let me know how well I'm doing. How'd yours ? That wood cuts like butter ... no or little need to pay attention to the grain eh Andy ? Thanks for sharing🙏 Stay safe. -Mike😷

Hi Mike... Haha... I was thinking.. what squeaks .. then I remembered my dog Ivy playing with her squeaky ball during filming... it does cut like butter... my knife is uber sharp... the grain does play a part but it is very straight and even... you do still have to switch cut direction to prevent digging in... I'm glad that you enjoyed the video... take care...All the best.....Andy

Can that wood be batoned on an angle to cut it in half?

Hi Caseydog3... Sorry... not quite sure what you mean... I have a piece of 4x2 with a 90 degree groove down the centre... the 4x2 is about 6 inches longer than the Basswood The Basswood is placed into the groove and I run both pieces through the band saw cutting along the edge. I hope that this helps... Take care...All the best.....Andy

@@AndysCornishCreations oh ok batoning wood is simply taking a straight edge and knocking it thru the wood but it would follow the grain like splitting wood..anyway I used the whole piece of wood and it came out great I just rounded off the back and put hair back there! Thanks
