Lubbylove89 I currently watching the show now. (In season 8) I forgot that his first name is John. I know that that how they call their names in hospitals but especially Carters I just think it’s his first name. I mean they Kerry Weaver, Kerry quite often and even Mark Greene, Mark. Carter is Carter. John Carter is when he is with family haha.

When Carter got stabbed by a patient it hurt his kidney so he was at the hospital Benton worked at to have a surgery.

I love the sly look Carter gets on his face just before he hands the picture to Benton, because he knows Benton's going to flip out. :)

"CARTER!" is definitely one of my favorite television phrases ever.

I LOVE Benton's teasing Carter about "marrying a sister".

Oh man. Just found this! I always loved these two. Benton just saying "Carter" floods me with such great memories! It is able to take their relationship back 13+ years. Also getting to see Bentons more softer side that rarely comes through. I will love this relationship till the day I die. In the totally platonic way. Carter so admired Benton, and Benton really cared for Carter a lot. Shows you don't always need a love story to show an awesome connection.

True. But that kind of connection takes time to grow and when it comes to TV shows it takes wise scripts and relevant story lines. Scarce nowadays when so called action and impact stories mock such ways of relating.

Love how Benton is wearing the subway token as a necklace.

I like how Benton goes flying after the gurney like "y'all ain't doing this without me".

The first cast had a chemistry that the final cast did not have and so ER went off the air. It was unique and without repetition after the original actors left.

I love the character and person Benton became. Complete 180, from the Benton you see in the first few seasons.

Carter is adorable.

As a renal patient on dialysis for the last 4 years, it is cool to hear things about lowering potassium level, not being able to drink fluids, etc. and be able to connect with that.

The look on Carter's face before he shows Benton the photo...he KNOWS he's about to get roasted. 😄

I love the forlorn look on Benton’s face when they start rolling Carter away 😉

She still hasn't gotten over the death of their son, Joshua. And as much as Carter tries, she wont let him back into her life because she is still grief stricken.

As a recent transplant recipient, It is fun to hear how correct they were regarding kaexolate which lowers potassium and the fact Carter is jealous of people drinking fluids as most folks on Dialysis for a while lose the ability to urinate and the only way to lose fluids is during dialysis, which can cause some major issues if you are too full of fluid. As a result, I was limited to 24-28 ounces a day the last 2.5 years leading up to the transplant. Carter probably would have had a similar restriction.

Benton's laugh is everything. :)

I love how natural these scenes were

I never got why Kem broke up with Carter. I know it's common for people to split up when they lose a child. But it seemed to me that it wouldn't have KILLED the writers to let that relationship work out.

It just seemed that the storyline just seemed to stall after they lost Joshua. There really was no other way it could have ended. Unfortunately, the show really began to lose focus because they brought in characters like Morris and Ray.

Speaking from personal experience that loss is almost always unsurvivable. I couldnt really talk about it for 20 yrs. It is so deep and everyone deals with grief differently.

Wasn’t really all that different from how Carter’s own mother dealt with the lose of his brother

2 breaths. That is all it takes for Benton to go "With out me? Hell no"

These two had the best relationship right up there with the chactherss of mash

i'm so glad Carter didn't die

I take it you didn't see the end of this episode? Carter has Benton dial her number on his cell phone and they talk.

wait why did ER (or the person who wrote the story S6E13) of "Be Still My Heart" of ER write in the script that THE PARENTS WERE IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND LEFT THE TWO KIDS ORPHANED?!?! I CRIED WHEN WATCHING THIS AND I DID NOT WATCH AFTER. i do wonder the actors that played the family though. And I do get the story that ER was proytraying families get torn apart every day but still i feel as if they could've wrote something else. S6E13 OF ER (the parents' dying) was the only incredibly sad thing (it reminds me that i will lose my parents and i am devastated about that). BUT ER is really a great show in the younger seasons (i got bored in season 7/8-ish

Could never stand Kem. I always thought that the storyline between Carter and Kem was forced.

This is so sweet. I think carter should have stayed with Abby. Kem was not a good character to introduce into the shoe. She had no character and didn’t bring anything to the show. I didn’t like her attitude or anything about her. Carter wasted him time with her. Couldn’t stand her.

Riiight. That’s why Noah Wyle kept personally calling Thandie Newton back to do more episodes with him. The writers were lazy when it came to their relationship. It should have ended happily…with Kem pregnant again.

Anyone notice the way Benton walked through the doors at the end? He's the only one who pushes them open like that, in grand dramatic style.
