They also pass laws that seemingly protect the criminal from prosecution and yet , it makes the law abiding citizen a criminal if they defend themselves , or family members from said criminal. Fentanyl killed over a hundred thousand people last year , I read an estimate that this year it will be doubled , one to three million people die annually (CDC’s last report) do to medical malpractice. The lawmakers aren’t even trying to do anything there , just have more blue ribbon panels to study it further. I see many comments about how Leo’s are on the take , maybe we should look more closely at state gavernment , particularly those who want to disarm , the citizen , and again make the criminal exempt

@@doggmansnapperdude3405Pot has not always been legal. I retired 12 years ago from the sheriff's office and, at that time it was well on its way to being legalized. A person could legally grow their own "personal consumption" marijuana. Typically that was considered 6 plants. However, when you run across a grow, indoor or outdoor, in the 1000's of plants. It's prima facia not "personal consumption". Therefore, we would cut them down and destroy them. Agree with you on the Fentanyl. It's tragic what it's doing to the unexpecting kids in thie country.😤

@@doggmansnapperdude3405 First, Yes, I am talking about Pot. It has not always been "legal". I retired 12 years ago after 20 years and while Pot was culturally and societally "acceptable" it was not legal. In the last 5-10 years of my career pot became legal and a person could grow enough for "personal consumption" so long as they had a card and prescription for use. Not for sale. That quantity of plants was considered to be ~6 plants per person. If you know anything about marijuana, it's a large plant. So, let's at least be honest here, a person who is growing, indoor or outdoor, thousands of plants, is not growing them for personal consumption. I found several grows that were literally in the thousands and those grows were cut down and destroyed. On the Fentanyl issue, I could not agree more. A drug that was used to sedate Rhino's is probably going to be deadly for the human. What it's doing to our children is is a travesty.

So this is interesting on many levels. I am Montanan, I didn't just move here like you and many others have over the past decade (specifically to the Kalispell area). I've also worked in the intelligence/analysis diaspora for much of my career and have spent a fair amount of time in tracking and identifying a lot of the cartel activity in my home state and the cartels are not new to Montana, they've been around in some capacity for more than 30 years. The border isn't the main issue - it's economics. You could theoretically shut the border from north to south and it ultimately would not matter one iota because the incentives for drug production and consumption trump outweigh the current incentives that exist in traditional economics of our society as it is currently and as it has existed in it's current framework for the past 20 some years.

If there were real consequences and a real effort to curb the problem it could be drastically reduced. Its happening because we're (the voters and the government) letting it happen and its gone on for so long that it became a monster. I can imagine if there was an open season and rewards paid, the people themselves would take care of the problem. But we all know or should know that youre not even allowed to protect your own land anymore.

Within minutes of being near the plants there warden was vomiting his guts out from pesticide exposure. They smuggled in pesticides that are banned in the USA. The warden didn't smoke it or eat it or roll around in it or climb through a dense patch. He simply walked around the perimeter and within a couple minutes was close to death. I think they said they had a similar event before and they had to medivac the officer. Sad that's what's being sold to people...

Exactly correct. I'm not for decriminalization but the focus shouldn't be on the user. The laws for production and distribution should be stiffer than anything we've seen. This is a whole different problem and calls for a different approach than the past. These dealers are knowingly poisoning people, selling a counterfeit product that will kill you. It's terrorism and should be treated as such. Get caught with fentanyl, tranq, fake prescription pills as a distributor and you shouldn't be seeing the light of day for a good 20.

I was born and raised here in Montana as were my parents, grandparents, etc. This is not, nor will it ever again be, the Montana I was born in 50 years ago. Overall, according to the 2022 census, only about 54% of the population here were born here. In many areas such as Kalispell and Missoula, only 45% were born in state and in Bozeman less than 40%. Make no mistake, many that move here have good intentions, but they have no clue as to the real impact it has had in making it unrecognizable by bringing their ways from other places. Most locals hate it here now and are leaving because out of staters are getting into government positions here be it city, county, or state and are fundamentally destroying it through growth policies, property valuations that price locals out and drive up taxes, zoning changes for major sprawl, etc. I am here to tell you if Texas, Montana, Idaho, and many other once great and self sustaining states have, or are falling this country is done for.

My mother was told by my cousin who was working for a cartel that they would hurt her to get to me because I was threatening their business and I sent back the message that they would be putting sparks on a very short fuse that has yet to be lit and they backed off me but they didn't go anywhere. They just know not to be on my radar anymore. At this point if I saw one I'd recognize them and I don't agree with everyone that the same laws apply how you deal with them. They have no human rights in my eyes.

I live in NM the cartels are all over the place here. I work out on the rez and it's infested with them. Many places out there are not policed and the politics there keeps all law enforcements hands tied. If you find yourself here on the rez do no one break down, two stay really strapped. I love camping and hiking out here and I'm always strapped in full kit when I do it.

The Sinaloa Cartel has been here for a long time. This is the super highway for the North Dakota Oil Fields "Bakken", Canada, and Washington. It comes up through I-15 to Butte then continues up to great falls into Canada. It also splits off onto I-90 to North Dakota and Washington. They use reservations and to stop State Police and local law. Then when Reservation comes for them they cross into Montana.

I live in SW Montana approximately 3 miles from I-15. Probably more drugs in this county than most realize, partly due to I-15. Law enforcement works hard at trying to get drug busts. Thank God for law enforcement! Am aware of a lot of drugs going to the Native Indigenous Communities in Montana. So worried for my grandchildren and all the youngers.

ND here, seeing what’s happened to eastern Montana and central is absolutely crazy. Billings used to be a nice place. The way it has changed in specifically the last 8 years is mindnumbing. The amount of shootings and crime has gotten absolutely ridiculous. I won’t advocate for any one solution to this problem. Because I believe it’s a tiered problem. That said there is plenty of things the people who know these areas can do. This like many things is going to be remedied by the people who love those areas. Who live there. The Outdoorsman and the backwoods locals working together. Then involving authorities. Like most things their greatest asset can and will become the greatest threat to their existence. Their remote access. Only it won’t happen until YALL have had enough. Until YOU lose enough. Until the local populations make it unbearable it will only become worse. Local authorities have rules and protocols to follow that they exploit, whether it’s officers on the payroll, red tape or Simply handcuffed by the process. You wanna make a difference in this fight take it to them. Find your people and be the change. Start the conversation everywhere and don’t implicate yourself. It’s not uncommon for accidents to happen to people involved in that game. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes. Guerilla games, Claude Dallas style. Ultimately if you’re an outdoor type, redneck, honky cracker. Talk about it or be about it, but don’t do both.

I am Native American and am very angered by this. One of the problems is the corrupt tribal governments on some of these reservations. It would not be hard for the cartels to bribe a tribal council member or members including the chair. None of that bribe money would ever go to tribal members. It would line the pockets of tribal council members. Unfortunately many of these governments have the same tribal council members voted in year after year. That makes them ripe for corruption. I’ve seen it personally. I’ve heard this is happening in South Dakota too.

How many veterans would take a job in a tower like in the yard in the Pen.. A tall tower every mile, many veterans, snipers, expert marksmen, that can shoot a 300win, or 338 lapua at a half mile easily when elevated.. there is just shy of 2000mi, that would put veterans in a job, and you wouldn't have to shoot very many times until people wouldn't dare set foot near the line.. The word would spread like wild fire that you will get shot if you touch that line.. This is a simple, way to restore border security rather than a stupid wall.. We must set an example of power and force to stop this invasion..

Just drive down the main drag from the Billings airport and just look at the questionable characters working the intersections and hanging around the sidewalks. There’s a hospital across the street so they’re probably accessing that for whatever they can get and there’s probably other government handouts around the women’s prison. I spoke to a woman whose husband is a police officer in Billings and she said it is a complete nightmare. They’re looking for an escape as most sane people do from insane places.

Capitalism dictates supply goes to market. As Montana is sparsely populated, supply is always only limited by the available customers. I am sort of surprised the Cartels haven’t realized how bad fentanyl is for business, as un alive people aren’t customers, and fentanyl brings more heat, but maybe they’ll realize it’s not in their best interest to peddle that garbage. They have other products.
