To realize that Johnny has been off the air now for just as long as he was on makes me feel both sad and very old. Nobody has ever, or will ever again, gather and entertain so many whole families the way Carson did. This man was THE MAN. Thanks for the memories, Johnny.

Cause for a lot of folks understanding some minorities had a bad time. the 70s (before me) , 80s and 90s were just better times. Internet is convenient but has ruined the family unit as well as just how folks interact overall. Ironic I’m stating this on the internet I know. I just assume the internet was the turning point it’s all I can think of. It may have been mobile phones. Both I was a teenager when they became prevalent. Weird how sometimes convenience produce negative effects. I’d hate to grow up in the time our kids are.

Bob Ueker is a national treasure. He brings smiles to people everywhere he goes and can hold the attention of whatever crowd he is asked to face. He is 88 years old as of the time I’m writing this, 9/3/2022, and is still working hard as the Milwaukee Brewers play by play announcer. I hope he has many more years of happy life! I remember lying in bed with my wife, at the time... now ex, watching Johnny's last show. We both were in tears knowing we wouldn't ever see him on his show again. He was such an integral part of our late night as we went to sleep, when it was done we had to search for another late night show. And even though some, even most, shows were good, there just wasn't anyone like him. Many hosts watched and learned a lot from Johnny and even if they were a better host or had a better show, none of them were " The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson".

My memory of Carson was watching with my grandfather. My dad never watched anything with me. But whenever I went to my grandfather’s, who I was extremely close with, we would always watch Carson together. Always. Every night. And Grandaddy would laugh at Carson’s jokes like he was hearing something only he and I could hear and laugh like he wasn’t supposed to be watching the show so my Grandmother couldn’t hear. So every time I see Carson or even hear his name, it takes me back to Grandaddy, who I miss desperately.

My parents met in College at Oshkosh and my mom was from Beloit and my dad from Waukesha, and all of my relatives still live their. WI is a great state with the nicest ppl! Back when the Sopranos was big around 2007 or so on utube I saw a clip/video called Sopranos PW style, and it was a funny pun on the Sopranos and the PW was Port Washington, and I watched it, and the green house my family lived in from late 1971 through the summer of 1974 was in it which blew me away, and I confirmed the address with the guy that posted the video. But anyways, yeah Bob usually likes to avoid interactions for the most part. When I was at spring training some fan came up to him and asked him to sing his baseball for his moms birthday, and Bob politely declined. And then the fan got mad, but Bob had to get up to the booth. I don’t think he always does this, but I also don’t think he is required to always interact with fans. If you think about it he is an older guy now and just wants to do his job and then go back home. But that’s just my guess.

The night before he was at the bar drinking Old Milwaukee. He got pretty drunk. It was an early game, and when he took the mound he was still very much inebriated. He kept walking batter upon batter till his team couldn't catch up. After the game the press guy ask one of the Milwaukee players wondering why Mil Fammy kept walking you guys. The player answered and said, "I heard that he was drinking Old Milwaukee last night and was still drunk on the mound so I reckon that that's the beer that made Mill Fammy walk us."

I think Johnny Carson was the best ever .... but I have one bad memory of him. In 1979, returning from 3 years overseas, my wife and I toured the studio in Burbank. At one point Johnny came out of a door, saw us all, and did a 180 right back in the door. The tour guide said "We won't see him again. He doesn't like tourists". What a dick. We had shared an airport tram with Chill Wills 3 years earlier and he was the nicest, most gracious man ever!

When Bob Uecker was a minor league prospect the team told him they were sending him to a winter league to improve his abilities and when he stepped down from the plane he was in Greenland 😅. He received some bats he ordered from Louisville Slugger and instead of his signature the lumber inscription read For Display Only 😊. After retiring as an active player they offered him a job as a Second Base Coach 😂. What a guy !!! ⚾

Bob Uecker is still alive. He is 88. His joke about the coach telling him most of us wear the athletic protector on the inside of our uniform is primo Uecker. I remember watching him on Johnny's show way back when.

Those were the days My Friends. Mr. Baseball still makes me laugh enough though I've watched a lot of the same jokes. It's in his delivery as a Performer and as a Person. All around would agree he was a Good Guy.

My Dad and I would watch Johnny Carson occasionally and it was the highlight of my early teens to spend time with my father watching Johnny. We both would laugh and it brought me closer to him. I loved my Dad but he was a little cold and I realized early on that he just was that way.. It made me feel bad knowing that this part of my life was over when I realized after being drafted by the ARMY that my dad & I would never sit in our den and not watch Johnny again. Damn! How could I fix that? I finally realized I couldn’t do that ever again so I got pissed. Did what ever I could….it worked.. I wanted to be in the MIX…..BS IT NEVER WORKED OUT.

Thank you for the download. I'm 59 and 'grew-up' with Johnny. I enjoyed all the clips included with the lecture. My only criticism; the interviewer and MC all sounded like they were on heavy doses of Valium.

UKE once said in a Carson interview that his first baseball contract was only for, like, $1,700. He continued," That's all I could afford to pay them!" LOL Priceless deadpan, self-deprication.
