Personally, I like the denseness of this slice of heaven, sweetness and sourness of my favorite cream cheese frosting and the speck of crunch from the nuts. Tried to make one once from collated recipes online but was not up to my "taste". I will try your recipe. Happy rainy Monday.

Hello - yes, you may make any changes you like, any adjustments you see fit to make this cake more enjoyable for you. For a more stable frosting, I'd suggest making either Swiss-meringue or Italian meringue buttercream. Hope this helps :)
