Looks like the underside of the bleachers at a high school football field. We had a design we set up each winter that had nested 2/30 and 3/30. It took probably 45 minutes just to put that 180-degree section together.

Thanks for the good video. Now I have understood exactly how I support the steep curve correctly. In Germany there are only complicated explanations. Greetings from Germany

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this viedo! I thought I was losing my mind with the measurements being off! DId you have to pull them tighter to make them fit the one eighty? I had to super glue the track sections together to get them to stay together!

the track surface to the support surface angle should be 30 Deg ,it should set up at that angle when you assemble the pieces and lay the low part flat with the support (at level) surfaces .Hope this helps ,My question to you is did you have to buy more supports pieces ,specially for the R4/15 curve ?

No, I didn't have to buy more supports. I have 2 of every high banked curve so.... when I'm not using some of the other ones I use their supports. Thanks for the degrees info by the way. Have fun pal.

This is a massive help. Do you actually use the 1/30? I know it's not recommended for a lot of cars.

Hey Peter. No I don't use the 1/30 highbank curve. It's my understanding, that particular curve is only for cars with high clearance... for example ....the 67 mustangs, 57 chevys and so on....cars of that style and class.

@@coverts5t Thanks, I guess for now I'll just use it to add stability to the 2\30 track.

This is a great video for anyone who has been struggling with Carrera high banked curves. I'm trying to set up a single 3/30 high bank, but there aren't any hints as to how best to set them up. I think I can use the information from this video to set up a single 3/30 - just won't be as high, but I'm guessing the relative height of the legs could be reduced to bring it down close to the table. I wonder what the angle of the bank is to the table.

Daniel Snyder I don't know the angle in degrees of the highbank curve to the table....sorry. However if you want to have a single track High Bank you can use one leg supports....one solid support at each end and adjustable feet for the other ones. Also you need to insert two 1/4 straight pieces in the middle of the bank to correct the outside diameter of the curve so that it doesn't bend the straights inward going in and out of it..... feel free to ask me all the questions you might still have.... thanks Daniel

Hello, Thanks so much for the reply - much appreciated. I checked a few of your other KZread videos. That is a REALLY cool track that you designed. I especially like the way it splits off and then cars are passing each other in opposite directions. Awesome. I do have one more question about the single high banked curve directions you sent me. Is that one solid support just the solid footing (on each end) or one solid footing with one full extension on top of it? Thanks for suggestion to add two 1/4 straight pieces. The specs on Carreraslots.com show the high bank 3/30 having the same diameter / radius as the regular 3/30 curve. I discovered that not to be true - the high bank falls shorter 4 or 5 inches. I didn't know what to do about that - I do now! My name is Dan and my email is drs2574@gmail.com. We can just KZread or if you want to email me directly, please do. Thanks again, Dan

Daniel Snyder Hi Dan. No, the single high bank gets one foot per piece " NO EXTENSION PIECES". If you build it the way Carrera wants you to, it would lift up higher to get the the other pieces of track to insert in. That's also how I found that inserting two 1/4 quarter straights makes joining the pieces easier, makes it lay more flat and fixes the diameter problem. I think Carrera dropped the ball when they designed the banks. They should have noticed these questionable problems with the prototype when the pieces did not fit together the way we're talking about. Maybe they should have added more material to compensate. As far as emails, if we need to talk or question things privately that's fine. But I think leaving comments like this for everyone to read, might help others with the same dilemmas. My gmail is Covert5150@gmail.com.... thanks a lot Dan

Hi! Thanks for the video. Quick question. Will using the 2/30 banks on each end fit on a 4ft wide table 12ft long? I'm thinking 8 straights on each side.🤷‍♂️ Thanks

  • @coverts5t

Hi Rich, I believe it will just fit...width wise. Length is a different matter. 1 straight is 13.25 inches long so...8 straights comes out to be 8 feet 10 inches. Now the 2/30 highbank curve dimensions, found on the internet, says that the outside diameter is 45.5 inches. I've actually built tracks with those dimension figures in my Carrera track software and when I physically build it on the table, the highbank curves are a little smaller. So with all this being said, if you add 8 feet 10 inches or in other words 106 inches of straights plus 45.5 inches for both curves...you'll have a grand total of 151.5 inches or 12 feet 7.5 inches. My recommendation is to use 7 full straights and 2 1/3 straights and you'll be completely on the table with no track overhanging the edge. Hope this helps pal...good luck

Hi Rich. 2/30 banked curves WILL fit on a 4' wide sheet, because I just mounted them on my layout. Mine is U shaped, and one side is 4' wide by 16' long with the #2's at the end of one leg. The #2 banked with 8 straights puts it at just under 11'. I know this is late, but I hope it helps you!

I’m confused.. is there a number 4 turn at 15 degrees offered? Looking at the Carrera book it shows a number 4 at both a 15 and 30 degree turn available.

Same boat here. I thought the R2 bank would nest by the flat R1 curve - nope. I found this video very helpful. I spaced the two track curves away from each other and made additional supports that mimic what would be the R1 bank and then set the R2 as described here. The 6 piece R2 curve 'floats' above the surface of the table but functions fine. It takes at least 4 straights for the bank to return to a flat run. In short my layout changed slightly to accommodate the banked curve, A hill as a landscape/scenery project could make things look more natural. If I had known before the purchase I would have not bothered with the bank.
