    Woow, so easy to get started! I might need this for my car. (it's from 1990, so no GPS or gadgets)

    The RAV4 is an excellent beater. Your other car may look nicer, but the RAV4 is the real hero here. :)

    one of the best reviews so far, i was curious to know if it was possible to mount this to a reg ball mount found on most phone holders, and how the responsiveness and speed is in real world use? thank you!

    The suction cup comes with a ball mount. I think it's 1/2" diameter. It might be compatible with some phone holders. Just make sure the phone holder is sturdy enough to support the radio. It's about twice the weight of a phone. The touchscreen is very responsive. I didn't notice a delay in scrolling up and down, or when I touch the screen. However, there is a 1 to 2 second delay when using play/pause and track forward / back with the KZread music app. I think it takes a second when the radio is sending commands to the phone.

    Great video thanks a lot! I am hoping to get myself a first gen rav4, but it has a been a wild search so far😂Anyways, this would make a great addition to my future car! I first saw the AliExpress ones and then your video came up. Would like to know if anyone can tell me what is a better buy for my money, the carpuride €200 euros or the other for about €70😅

    I'm sure the AliExpress radio is similar, but it's always a gamble with quality. I tested the Carpuride unit for a couple weeks and went on a few drives with both my cars and didn't notice any big problems with it. If you buy the cheap one and it sucks, you've lost $70 and you still need a radio. If you want a bargain and you don't mind losing time changing radios and shipping stuff back and forth, buy it from Amazon where they have a good return policy.

    Hey Paul off topic from this video but for your 1997 rav 4 I have a suggestion to make I think u should add some sort of light bar on top of the rav 4 if ur gonna go off-roading at night maybe I think that would be cool. And second I think you should get a push bar or bull bar for extra protection for ur rav4 You don’t have to do these upgrades but it’s up to you very nice channel man

    Some day I'll bolt accessories to it. I'm still working through mechanical repairs. I think a Prinsu style roof rack with lights would be ideal. Prinsu racks are very low profile. I want to do some kind of front hitch setup like RV's have. I would have one receiver in the middle, and two smaller ones on the sides. That way I could mount and remove a brush guard in a few seconds, and install a winch front or rear.

    @@cabbagememes2852 Yes, a skid plate would be awesome. I want to make it simple so people can copy it by watching the videos. I want to make it out of aluminum instead of steel so my car doesn't get much heavier, but I'll need to buy a TIG welder first.

    When r u gunna put a 3sge or 3sgte motor in the rav?

  • @LabCoatPaul

    @LabCoatPaul

    6 ай бұрын

    An engine swap is a big project. Installing the wrong engine in the car requires a lot of modifications and unless you're very good at it, you'll likely make sacrifices in quality and reliability. The 3sgte engine is nice but the turbo generates a lot of heat and there isn't much clearance to the radiator. It also doesn't improve power or torque at low rpm. The 3sge might be cool, but it's not a very big upgrade in power. I'm considering the 2gr-fe engine. That's the 3.5 liter v6 from the 3rd generation RAV4. I'll have better reliability, fuel economy, power, and torque than the 3sgte. I don't know of anyone who has done that swap in the first gen RAV4, but it's a fairly common swap in the MR2. There is plenty of support for the 2gr swap out there, so I'll have some help if I decide to do it.

    @LabCoatPaul from my understanding 3s-ge gen3 up are a 180hp + and a direct bolt in with a harness modification. A v6 would be alot of fab work , if u could fit it & way more heavy.

    220$ for "this" ? A used ipad or even a new budget tablet would be better with a 100$ jvc or Kenwood. Better spend that 200$ on a sony dsx-gs80 single din headunit that would give you double the audio power.
